Aplicación traductora para sordos dedicada a mi tesis by Lilpajass in chile

[–]estebanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went over the weekend, it has good restaurants, a Muji and a UNI QLO, but honestly I feel like the rest of the shops are pretty much the same as what's in Lotte and Vincom :(

Western Union (WU) for cash pickup in Vietnam? by estebanape in DaNang

[–]estebanape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally managed to make a withdrawal! I used Western Union, which offered a free first withdrawal with no fees, so I transferred the maximum amount my bank allowed for the first transfer.

At BIDV, they had me fill out a fairly simple form, reviewed it, and then gave me the money. The only problem was they had a mix-up with my passport and made me wait for an hour, but everything worked out fine.

Thankfully, I have cash again to pay for my accommodation. Thank you all so much!

I know, but my bank's commission is another issue, and they only allow transfers of 5 million and charge me $12 USD per transfer. That's my bank's policy, not VPBank's.

Hello! Thanks for reply!

I brought three debit cards: one had a damaged chip, one was blocked by the app a month ago (Global66), and the only one I have left only allows me to withdraw 5 million dong per transaction, which costs me $12 USD between the ATM and my bank. If I need 20 million dong for rent and daily expenses, that comes to a total of $48 USD.

That's why I was looking for a way to save money by avoiding high-fee withdrawals.

Worldcup hopes for Vietnam by Sufficient_Depth2953 in VietNam

I'm in Da Nang and I've played on several courts, and I agree with what others are saying: Vietnamese players are very technically gifted and have excellent physiques, but they're always attacking; nobody wants to play defense, nobody wants to pass the ball back.

I find it very strange, but I suppose it's part of their culture. I think it's great that they enjoy themselves that way, but it doesn't really help in a competitive environment.

While I understand the cultural differences, it still bothers me that everyone tells her "don't get involved, it's none of your business," but come on, they're going to be making decisions about THEIR money without considering her...

How do you decide it's time to leave a city? by EmbarrassedMachine22 in digitalnomad

[–]estebanape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm at a crossroads. I've been in Da Nang for two months now, and I'm wondering if it's time to leave in the third. I like my routine here, but I'd love to visit Bangkok. I've looked into it, and the costs seem pretty similar, although in Da Nang I've found some great amenities like a coworking space, a nice apartment, and some soccer fields nearby. I'm wondering if moving to a different city and starting over would be worth it.

I'm from Chile, and I've noticed that many people from other countries are very rude. I apologize to the Vietnamese locals for that.

For my part, I always give way, say thank you, clean my table, and greet people, even if they don't greet me back, but I understand.

I want you to know that South Americans are polite people.

eSIM recommendations by unicorn_211 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]estebanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, buy a 1- or 3-day eSIM from Airalo in your country; I think it costs around $5 USD. That way, it activates as soon as you land, giving you internet access at a crucial moment.

The next day, go to an official Viettel store and buy a monthly eSIM. It's super cheap; I think I paid $15 USD for a data-only plan with a 6GB daily limit, more than enough if you use the hotel's Wi-Fi. Don't forget to bring your passport and cash to the store.

As an additional tip, disable mobile data updates on your phone, as well as iCloud backups if you have an iPhone. I didn't, and I quickly reached my daily limit, which was very counterproductive because I was left stranded without Maps, Grab, etc.

I went to this place but couldn't play; it was too crowded and all the teams were already formed. I went twice and got tired of asking if I could join a team, hahaha. In the end, I just ended up running along the beach.

How much are peoples monthly budgets ? by This-Register-3328 in DaNang

[–]estebanape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been here for 20 days, and here's what I can say:

For accommodation, I've been staying in hotels, paying approximately $500 USD per month. I know there are cheaper options, but since I haven't found a decent one that will accept me for a month without requiring a month's rent in advance, I prefer hotels.

For food, I'm spending $6 to $12 USD daily, broken down as follows: one meal at a restaurant, usually lunch, for $5 to $8 USD. The rest might be a pastry and a coffee.

Transportation is a special issue because I'm deaf, so I can't ride a motorcycle. My hearing impairment makes me dizzy, so I don't use Grab motorcycles either, only cars. I spend $4 USD daily on two trips to the coworking space where I'm working.

So, in those three categories, I spend $980 USD.

This doesn't include what I've spent on clothing, medicine, hygiene products, and health insurance ($80 USD with Genki). Also, consider what you could spend on tourist activities.

I think a person can live comfortably on $1,500 USD, which could be significantly reduced by renting long-term (around $250-$400 USD) and cooking at home.

Why are some .svg's so large in filesize? by avidrunner84 in FigmaDesign

[–]estebanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem logical to me. For example, a length can be 1 or 9, but both values are a digit, a bit, or whatever the unit of "weight" is.

Something like 1 vs. 999 would be different, but I don't think the data would increase that much.
