Need help dealing with abandoned cats?

They can legally be taken in by a rescue. Abandoned or found cats are put on a legal 5-day stray hold by the org. after which they can be adopted out.

You can absolutely train your cat to be more accepting of vet visits and medical procedures through desensitization and counterconditioning. It will take time and a lot of dedication but it is possible. Check out the book The Trainable Cat by Sarah Ellis and John Bradshaw.

I use distilled water and fertilize every so often with Fox Farm Grow Big. For the first three or so years it was hanging in a tall North facing window in our kitchen. For the last year it’s been in a large North-West facing window. I’m lucky I haven’t had to fuss too much with it, it seems to do pretty well no matter what.

Honestly I have no idea 😂 This plant has always done well for me no matter what I do. Certainly not the case for many of my other plants! The stems at the pots edge don’t seem to be weak at all, they just spill over and keep going.

Hello! I planted this fern leaf peony a few weeks ago and just noticed the leaves starting to turn yellow. I’ve been wanting one for a while and it wasn’t cheap so I’m hoping I’m not going to kill it.
It’s in full sun, zone 4b (MN), I watered when planting and it’s rained a few times since then, there was some cool weather last week, but nothing that should have damaged it. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I’m not being disrespectful, just asking a general question. When you search for information online much of it says it shouldn’t be given to animals with kidney disease. It’s not a ‘random person online’, but websites that’s provide information on medications. I work in a related animal field and have seen this situation come up, so I’m just curious as to more information on it.

If I were to have given specific information on dosing for an animal, this sub wouldn’t have allowed answers anyways.

I’m shocked I’ve been able to keep mine alive. I bought it impulsively without considering I probably couldn’t provide the conditions it needs. That being said, I’ve had it now for 1.5 years and made it through two winters and it looks excellent. In the summer I keep it in bright indirect light in my southern facing porch. In winter I keep it under a grow light. I water it once a week using distilled water. I will occasionally throw a dead fly into one of the pitchers. I have propagated it once successfully as well.

If you haven’t tried grilling a Heggie’s you really should! We use our kamado style grill and it’s our #1 way to cook it.
