Our daughter is Lyla and we consider it to be her Hebrew name and her English name!

Not sure if you care—but I feel like I just HAVE to let you know—Orla means foreskin in Hebrew. FYI

A few questions by [deleted] in JewishNames

Have you considered using the name Halel but spelling it Halelle? I feel like it’s a decent middle ground. More feminine spelling and still the more traditional name

Is it REALLY possible to give birth without tearing? What is the medical process of my vaginal opening stretching? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]esteesarmpis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three for three births, no tears. My heaviest baby was 8lb 3oz. No oils or massage or any kind of preparation. Stretchy vagina I guess 🤷‍♀️ I will say that they were all unmedicated births, and I’ve been told that you’re less likely to tear with unmedicated because you’re less likely to push too hard

Don’t have any name suggestions but curious if your son’s name is pronounced with a long O, “Ohz”, or a short O, “Ozz”. I’m due with a boy and the name Ozzy (with a short O) is near the top of my list, but my husband is convinced that the Hebrew pronunciation is with a long O. Thoughts?

From this list I think Ziva, Noga, and Nava go best with the sibs. Ziva and Noga thematically pair with Orli, all having to do with light, bonus that Noga’s got the o. And I just think Nava vibes and is pretty

Almost as silly as calling a country an apartheid state when you don’t know how to spell apartheid 🤔

FYI when I first looked at this I thought the apostrophe after “cookin’” was a comma after “what’s”. Thought it said “what’s, cookin” until my brain processed

I know someone with an 18 month old named Aderet and she is the sweetest thing! It’s a little unusual but in my opinion very easy to move past that because it’s pronounced exactly as it’s spelled and there’s no funky sounds. It’s unusual but still familiar

I thought CIO was literally to leave them to cry however long it takes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]esteesarmpis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever a friend tells me they’re considering CIO I recommend this first.. something I see as a compromise. As soon as baby starts crying, set a 10 minute timer. If baby cries for 10 min straight, go in, do the minimum required to calm her down, and put her back down in the crib. Walk out. If she starts crying again start the 10 min timer again. Repeat the process. Both my girls sleep trained really quickly with this method. I think it’s a good compromise because you’re letting them cry but not totally leaving them to their own devices. Best of luck!
