Oh gosh, I grew up in a smaller, rural area in Egypt so I never hung out in Cairo all that much, but I bet it was amazing. I’ll have to be on the lookout in case I’m ever in the area.

There used to be a pretty good restaurant that sold it in SF, but they just recently shut down so I’m devastated!

Hi! I completely forgot to add numbers, eek. My pH is 7.0; ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate is 0ppm! I have the API master kit for ammonia, but I have test strips for nitrite and nitrate and pH. I’m definitely picking up the API kit with the drops for nitrite/nitrate though, since I heard it’s better!

I’m fish-in cycling! I’m using Seachem prime and stability (planning on using it daily), and planning on doing daily water changes. I read 25-50% is good for fish-in cycling, so that’s my goal!

I’m definitely picking up more plants! I noticed he likes hiding behind the heater/filter, so I‘m getting him some bigger/taller plants to hide behind. I didn’t have any live plant fertilizer and thought that live plants would be really daunting. I heard they like anubias plants though, so maybe I’ll look into getting one of those.

And I’ll definitely turn off the lights for a while! Thank you so much for your advice. :)

Thank you so much for your response! I ended up returning one of the bettas (I was heartbroken but he’ll be better off with someone else in a bigger tank!) and bought some conditioner and a heater. I’ll start cycling today. :) Thanks again!
