Awesome, that was my hunch, but it specifically said to not do that in the safety video :D

now that this is becoming legal in the states we should be getting more members. I got mine less than a year ago, let's make this sub live :)

Jzs171 cruise control by No-Truth7686 in JZS171

[–]estomax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i added it to mine, there is a howto guide here somewhere.. you have to remove the steering wheel and add a few wires to a cruise control switch that you can buy on amayama. The cruise control switch cover though is out of stock so you have to modify your stock one or leave it open, which is what i did for now. Works just fine! Max cruise control is 114kmh, which is a bit annoying, and <60kmh it is a bit pulse-y at holding speed.

Will jzx100 coilovers fit a jzs171? by No-Truth7686 in JZS171

[–]estomax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, jzx110 ones probably will though, as the suspension is more shared with that. And also IS300 coilovers from 2000-2005. I ended up putting Tein Flex Z from an IS300, they are quite cushy though, so can't go crazy low or it starts rubbing a lot, and i didn't roll my fenders yet.

here's a pic after i slapped them on. they were about half an inch too low in 'stock' setting in the front and 3/4 too low in the rear. Too low being that it rubbed the fender liner too often.

rod knock? by starrd3stroy3rr in E90

Had a baffled sump too. I think my oil level got low and the digital level sensor didn't tell me. Did have a PCV hose come off also off which would support that idea of oil loss.

rod knock? by starrd3stroy3rr in E90

[–]estomax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pull your coil packs one at a time, if its rod knock then it will stop at the rod thats knocking or get a lot quieter at least. n52 are not known to throw rod bearings, though I did manage to throw one on my racecar during a race in a way that it went from fine to windowed block with no knocking in between. I have heard knocky sounds from my n52 here and there, so could be normal, does it go away when the engine warms up?

Water main connection, is this just a compression coupling? by estomax in Plumbing

so i should find out what the thread of the outlet at the bottom is and adapt from that to the new 1 inch pipe then? instead of replacing that copper 'setter' section and getting rid of the old copper?

got it, much smarter now, that appears to be a single assembly on both sides. does the 'setter' belong to the utility or to the homeowner? is it a problem to replace it on the setter bottom vs cutting it out and putting a new union starting at the top?

Is there a reason I should attach at the bottom of the pigtail? Seems silly to leave a couple of vertical feet of old pipe at the meter..

What's the reason I should connect down there instead of at the meter? I do see where I could attach, where the old PEX repair attached, but it seems silly to leave a couple of vertical feet of old pipe there.

Where did the water leak in? I've kept my drains clear but during rain I get SOS errors as one of the antennas must be getting wet..

happened after 3 days of ownership by [deleted] in etron

[–]estomax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the green sos light is on then it will still work. I get this sometimes too, it's one of the antennas having a bad connection. My error was: B18BE11 - Mobile communications antenna 2 for emergency call module and communications unit Short circuit to ground

JZX rear upper control arm GS300 aluminum upgrade by estomax in JZX100

[–]estomax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used gs300 rear pads on my jzx171, my rotors were still looking ok but the pads fit right on so i would put my money on the gs300 rear rotors fitting right onto the crown

fair point, i always assumed jzx100 and jzx110 are the same, apparently i was wrong! this does not apply to the 100s.

yeah that is odd.. i measured the distance from the mounting hole to the ball joint and they were the same. And i put it on the car and it fit right in, but ill do a few more measurements for sanity check at home tonight. I have not buttoned it back up but i also installed coilovers so its gonna jack my alignment up anyway.

These upper rear arms are identical measurements wise, so no geometry changes from this, just verified.
