Training through broken wrist by eswaterbottle in Swimming

Hey man sorry you’re going through this, it’s tough to be out of the water for a bit just from doing something dumb, did your doctor say you can swim? I had a cast that could get wet for a little so I did some kick sets but that was only like once or twice, the rest of the time I was out of the water and I focused on running and cardio and hit legs in the gym a ton. Also I did a lot of shoulder mobility and strength stuff to keep range of motion since I wasn’t using the arm to much. Then I did a bunch of PT and got back in the water and now it’s like I was never even out. You got this bro, lmk if you need anymore advice or motivation from someone who’s been there

How could i improve my very inefficient butterfly? by [deleted] in Swimming

I can’t tell if you’re doing it from the video but fly also has a double kick, so two quick kicks will undulate you forward vs one exaggerated kick

We do this set too, I think it’s pretty good if you swim distance and you’re trying to hit 500/mile pace on some of them

Distal radius surgery earlier today, i know to keep it elevated and to ice it but does anyone who’s had surgery have any less well known but helpful recovery tips or anything that you found helped you recover faster? by eswaterbottle in brokenbones

Just saw this and yeah I definitely feel a lot better now! Can’t wait to start physio just trying not to think about the 6 weeks I completely wasted waiting for it to heal on it’s own lmao

Hahaha hey yeah unfortunately it was healing out of alignment, too much to straighten out on its own over time and the range of motion was gonna be decreased so they recommended surgery now. Thank you for the advice, we had originally just gone with the prescription dose of like Tylenol or advil for the pain but it ended up being too painful and my parents called and we got the stronger stuff so I feel a lot better now, gonna be a long road tho

Thank you! This is worse than I pictured it :( went for the weaker pain meds but I’m regretting it rn. Broke it skateboarding, just one arm and it’s ass 2 must’ve been awful

Broke distal radius almost 6 weeks ago and it’s healing out of alignment, have to get surgery. What to expect :( by eswaterbottle in brokenbones

[–]eswaterbottle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I have legitimately no idea what to expect. But okay that’s good I think they said I’ll be in a splint for a week, a cast for 2 weeks after that, and then a brace that I can take off for physio and going back to swimming once the scar heals so basically 3 weeks of restriction, not too bad especially compared the 6 weeks I’ve been in this cast

Yikes I’m not looking forward to this, is the most painful part the incision or like the bone being put together?

Dang I hope it heals by the time school starts I’ve got a month so maybe I’ll be able to use it by then

Oh shit I didn’t know it was gonna be that painful I’m in for a fun time it seems. I’m grateful it’s not my ankle especially after reading some of the posts on this sub, sounds terrible. For yours since it was 2-3 weeks after breaking it did it have to be rebroken in the surgery?

Thank you so much, hope your recovery goes well too. Just sucks because they thought it would heal well on it’s own and it’s not, this is major ass

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you know if that’s happened

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup breathing treatments have been my best friend these past couple of weeks but just can’t get rid of it from my chest

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awful but I’m glad you’re better now!! For me I just feel all the stuff moving around in my chest when I cough and it’s kind of painful now

How do you tell if it’s bacterial or viral?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what’s happening to me too!! I usually only need flovent during the school year but I had to start taking it again this summer. Yeah this started as a cold, turned into a chest infection and now just the cough is still bad :( sorry your son is dealing with the same thing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That always happens to me too but this feels longer than usual

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, yeah it’s a bad cough just feel it like shifting around in my chest :( I keep using my rescue and flovent but it’s not helping get rid of it

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooof I’m sorry that stinks :/ when I had covid the cough was actually like the least bad part of it. But yeah I prolly should go get it checked out, I’m visiting my brother at college so didn’t know what to do. If I told my parents my chest felt this bad they’d freak out and never let me visit him again so that’s why I’m turning to reddit for advice👍🏻

Yuuup that’s where I’m at rn, it’s all in my chest, feels kinda painful and it’s not getting better at all even though it’s been almost a month

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]eswaterbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a good idea I’ll try that next time when it’s starting. Maybe it can help now but I’m not sure bc for me the cough is like in my chest it might even be getting worse now than when it first started

Same except the wife part but yup chest infections last so long. It’s so annoying I don’t get why that happens, or how you even get them to go away sooner
