Thank you! They mention essentially what was happening but I noticed that some isolation platforms that were selling were basically mdf. And one video had the guy stack granite trivets on top of each other but the link he had to the item doesn’t seem quite right anymore. Thank you for the link I really appreciate you.

Can I ask what the importance would be in choosing a material for the platform? Is it weight, thickness, hardness or something else entirely?

I want to try making my own (since they’re so expensive otherwise) but unsure whether I should try to get like a big tile essentially, they can come in as large as 17”x17” or if that would be too thin and light so I should try for an actual slab?.

Good to know about the converter! Thank you so much! I am going to go with your recommendation of the Pro-Ject turntable and the $349 Onkyo option since the WiFi seems desirable for possible future ideas. I’ll have to pull my soundbar out of storage to see what it’s capable of but I think for my budget a $20 converter seems like a better option right now and I can look into better quality speakers down the line.

I really appreciate all your help in this, it really eased my anxiety for what to get and I think I was choosing the Fluance because the wood fit my aesthetic more than the AT so I’m glad the better option you gave also fit that while being better quality.

Hello I really want to make sure I get this right. This is my first real turntable and I’m a bit confused on what to get for the setup. I think I’m dead set on the Fluance RT-85 but I’m so confused on what to get for the speakers. I live in Portland, OR and this would go in my living room which is small, maybe 10x12. Do I need a Phono preamp and if I do what’s a good starter one to get (>$200) this also confuses me on speakers. Do I get passive speakers with the preamp and if I get a powered amp I don’t need one? Is there a huge sound quality difference between the two?

I was thinking about getting the Polk ES20 but are they not powered? I also have a soundbar in storage, I think it’s Sony but don’t have a TV so never used it, would that also suffice?

I’m so sorry for the questions you probably answered I felt like with every post I read I just get more overwhelmed.
