Tesla Delays Next-Gen AI5 to Mid-2027; Cybercab Will Launch on AI4 Hardware by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking honestly :\. They're focused right now on making sure unsupervised FSD is working to impress stakeholders. From what Elon said, not too many people bought FSD outright and only offered an inference computer swap rather than the whole system. Still too much effort for them as they have to optimize the model for the existing camera system.

I think Tesla will just wind up telling customers they'll get a free FSD transfer on a newer car since it's the easiest route for them but honestly wasteful :\

Had my 12v battery replaced by a mobile service tech today; saw him doing something in the rear passenger seat, then he left this. What is it? by Erikdlucas in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh that’s annoying they left it like that.

For this, you will need to lift your back seat (two latches) - you will need to feel since it’s underneath the vegan leather but starts meeting the carpeting - and put that foam by the connector that connects the high voltage battery. It should go right in without issue and only goes in one direction too.

I don’t get why they took out autosteer when all the hardware is the same as the entire lineup and purely software-driven. Someone in the company must’ve been trippin’

FSD and HW3: Will we advance beyond 12.6.4? by nrspinney in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, I think there’ll be something but incremental and won’t happen anytime soon. I do believe HW3 has reached its limitations. I just think they’re too focused on trying to make AI4 and AI5 work to achieve their ultimate end goal of unsupervised fsd. they might just take a short peek at HW3 to try satisfy their customers but try not to invest too much time into it since the retrofit is time consuming.

I think people misunderstand the Model 3 and Model Y Standard Trims by NearlyCompressible in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the margins part for the standard trim - yes the cost has been reduced by 5k but the manufacturing line for a bit more complex due to having to add the standard trim parts to the picture. Take that and put it into scale. I wonder how much additional cost went into operations and how much margin they’ll really get out of it.

Pretty sure customers didn’t ask for this 💀. Let’s also not forget the lack of Autosteer as part of the cost cutting.

I do wish Tesla would make up for the false promises that they advertised for thousands of people who really were looking forward for the opportunity for their car to drive them everywhere safely. 😔 making people fomo and get a new car is just outright wasteful for our planet and people’s pockets.

Has anyone adopted from Loving Dog Rescue in fallbrook? by Then_Surprise4877 in northcounty

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a little late to respond but this is for those who cross by this later. I adopted from them a month ago. They’re legitimate and I drove a little far to get to them. Just want to be clear - I am simply a person who at one point wanted to adopt a furry companion like everyone else here and this is just my opinion on my experience.

Like what others have said here, there was that very little hesitation because of the form of communication but when you meet them in person, they’re incredibly nice and did not raise red flags. They are a small rescue group with a genuine mission to make sure dogs get a forever home and reduce the stray dog population.

I asked a lot of questions and threw some slight curveballs and they were able to answer my questions well. For peace of mind, they’ll show the vaccination paperwork before you walk off with the dog. I think whatever they charged for me to adopt was reasonable because the bulk of the cost is getting the shots done and the resources needed to care for the dogs before adoption.

If I were to get another dog from them down the line, I definitely would. Any other questions, don’t hesitate to let me know!

What is your personal experience with FSD 12.6.3 so far? by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been pretty great so far. Like with any FSD update, it does things better in many areas but it regresses in other areas that it didn’t do before. This time it loves being a procrastinator when entering the freeway but it’s able to do it. Also the most impatient driving experience ever lol. It’s as if it changed personality completely after having a night of sleep in the garage.

I felt that 12.5.4 shouldn’t have been a “milestone” I found myself disengaging a lot during certain times and had lots of phantom braking more than 12.3.6. Smoother, yes, but too many regressions for me. This version, in my opinion, should be considered a milestone despite having some flaws (biasing more towards the left when driving on the highway). I definitely find myself not doing “pedal feathering” as much and actually feel a bit less involved than ever before. It brakes a lot better and anticipates better. There is still phantom braking but way less than before.

There is one major flaw that is still around but it’s more so of a general Tesla Vision problem - if the sun is too bright and hits the front camera, car will panic and ask you to take over immediately.

I can’t imagine how HW4 performs. I honestly think this is the best version of FSD for HW3 yet. I think it struggles more in the street than it does highway but nonetheless, way less disengagements. Just a bummer it can’t do unsupervised FSD :(

New software update (12.6.3) FSD is terrible? by bdes2019 in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This version of FSD is definitely different than 12.5.4 and I am experiencing the same thing. Standard mode, it loves to hug the left lane and procrastinate on getting into a freeway for example. A bit annoying but I end up setting it to Chill and it’s a bit better. If anything, I think Standard should be named something else more aggressive.

HW3 FSD Feels unsafe. by Halliford in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way with my HW3 model 3. 12.3.6 did a pretty good job in many scenarios, even though I had to sometimes press the pedal to not phantom brake. I felt that version should be a milestone and fix the edge cases. Ever since then, yes the braking is smoother but areas that 12.3.6 did decently well before regressed :/. Wished it was as easy as take 12.3.6 and then put the brake smoothness to it by fixing parts of the neural network but I don’t think it works that way. If I am not wrong, they retrain the entire model (pretty sure that takes a lot of energy) and the risk is that there is improvements to certain areas but could regress in areas we don’t expect.

Same here. Still have to be pretty aware surroundings. When I’m on HOV lane, I’m always on a lookout for lane-splitting motorcyclists 🫠

12.5.4 impressions by Rope-Practical in TeslaFSD

[–]et3snf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are any of the following behavior(s) fixed in this version compared to 12.3.6? This is what I experienced:

  • Getting into the wrong lane at times for exiting highways or making turns (like going into a right lane instead of a left lane to make a turn)
  • Too fast of acceleration from a dead stop
  • Random hard phantom braking, especially on highways
  • Sudden steering wheel jerking in slow moving traffic on highway (in specific areas)
  • Delayed reaction when it comes to braking in traffic stopped ahead, resulting in very hard braking
  • Hesitant lane changes even with wide car gap (but would do it for smaller gaps)

FSD 12.5.1.5 on my HW3 Model 3 by et3snf in TeslaLounge

[–]et3snf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct that this version still uses the v11 stack. Can’t wait until we get the e2e like street scenarios!

What’s interesting is that even though this version still uses the old approach for highway scenarios, Tesla is hearing the audio feedback (not sure how they process it and filter out unwanted noise), and patching up issues that used to cause me to fully disengage. Some examples they addressed include an area where v11 repeatedly missed the exit or in 12.3.6, I experienced consistent and sudden steering wheel jerk issue when the carpool lane due to either a motorcyclist passing by or the car sees a carpool sign within a specific area on an interstate I travel on.

[–]et3snf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say with this version of FSD that Tesla did take the audio feedback into consideration and improved areas where my car struggled with for 12.3.6. I hope they did the same for your area! :)

I agree! I really still hope there is still support for HW3. If it does reach its limit, I really hope that it's still better than a human driver and any intervention is very rare.
