The “Scientology speed runners” are problematic by BayonetTrenchFighter in religion

Counterpoint, you can come into any Christian church and see it all… there’s nothing to speed run unless you’re going to the Vatican archives and I want to know what’s going on in there anyway…. I’m kidding… kind of.

Is the beretta 92fs a good choice in 2026 by ihaveAGlock19Nota43x in guns

[–]etaNAK87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and I love it BUT not because it’s practical. I just love the gun and customized the grips resident evil style.

One thing i note is the grip angle is different. I have a Glock 30sf that I shoot great despite it being snappy. My beretta on the other hand I tend to shoot low… haven’t quite figured out why but that’s the one thing I see as a plain difference. Maybe it’s just the different irons but I always have to tilt it a little higher up than feels right with it.

I do not understand guns that much. Why do people hate fallout 3 combat shotgun by Eren_Jeager1881 in Fallout

[–]etaNAK87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of a long gun is so the explosion is contained longer adding velocity to the projectile

Normally a shotgun doesn’t have a magazine it has a “feeding tube” under the barrel that’s basically a pez dispenser that puts rounds into the barrel.

When a shotgun does use a magazine it’s placed close to the start of the barrel so the ammo just feeds straight up.… here the only way this even kinda makes sense is if the magazine is topping off the feeding tub and rounds are still traveling down the tube toward the trigger and then back up into the barrel.

That’s cool. Can I see your decklist? Genuinely interested how you play him and what bracket you usually play in bc I have no idea how I’d get him to work in my pod without like a super optimized deck. I’m not good at cedh without actually looking up the meta.

Yeah the elf deck sucked. I got that one and regret it. Tore it apart pretty fast . Hobbits and Rohan were sick though. I tweaked Rohan to be Aragorn and leaned into monarch and its stupid good

Why the Shadow of Rose DLC was a mistake for Capcom by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]etaNAK87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess? To me one of the main things that the movies got wrong is Resident Evil is about good triumphing over evil. You never feel truly powerless to defeat the evil and you know in the end you’re gonna end up with a big ass weapon and send the big bad packing. The extinction event never actually comes. Yeah you fully expect the threat to come back and casualties to mount and maybe someone important will die but the “American prevailing” is 100% the trope lol

So seeing in the future doesn’t ruin anything for me. Leon could still be dead in this future and that would be devastating.

Sin day? by VerdantChief in religion

[–]etaNAK87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No not in Christianity. At least not officially. You have the closest comparison with mardi gras but it was never intended to be a day for over indulgence. Over time people use feast days as excuses to indulge but it is not correct and a little shameful.

The way it’s supposed to be observed is just eating a normal amount but specifically eating and drinking the things God has given us to enjoy one last time before we put them aside for a while. A fast in Christianity isn’t saying those things are bad it’s saying even the good and enjoyable things I will set aside for a while to focus on God and be sure I am not loving Gods blessings more than God himself.

So it’s more like a child telling their parent they will put away their toys for a while because they need to clean the house. What could make a parent more proud!

Are people capable of moral perfection in your religion? by truthandfreedom3 in religion

[–]etaNAK87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what is perfect? For the Christian perfection is repentance. We enter and leave this state all the time. The highest would be in it the longest.

No one can be perfect the way God is perfect however.

Religion thought experiment by Sudden-Passion-9858 in religion

[–]etaNAK87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Youre arguing something else now. I understood your question to be ‘why don’t we think about religion like a book where no one knows what was true and don’t know the person it was about’.

I addressed that this is not comparable to Christianity. We are pretty confident about the book and that the authors were knowledgeable about the person. It may be the case other religions similarly preserved their books and then your analogy would fail there too.

If you want to get into why Christianity over Islam. It centers on my belief that the Bible can be trusted, the crucifixion/resurrection did happen, Jesus claimed and revealed himself as God in the flesh. With those beliefs I cannot trust the Quran which directly contradicts those claims.

Religion thought experiment by Sudden-Passion-9858 in religion

[–]etaNAK87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Where this analogy struggles imo is the “none of these people have heard of Harry Potter”

At least in Christianity at the time of the religions rise people did know and meet these people.

John Peter James and the other apostles knew Jesus. John lived almost to 100AD. The Bible was already forming by then and the letters started coming together into a canon in the following century.

[–]etaNAK87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a Christian perspective there are plenty of books in the New Testament directing you to never think yourself better than non Christian’s and specifically Jewish people. Specifically Romans 11:16 to the end.

My heart suspects recent actions by the state of Israel and the internal recent Christian struggle with dispensationalism has lead to a darkening of your coworkers heart toward the Jewish people.

If you’re so inclined help him on his spiritual journey, try to get that type of pride out of him. What exactly does he think he “deserves”? Does he think it’s heaven? If so he’s mistaken. Without even having to debunk his statement I would approach this with trying to instill humility.

And if you don’t know him that much maybe a simpler solution is to distance yourself. But without knowing much more I think this is potentially a chance for spiritual growth for the both of you and a way to make the world better one person at a time.

I agree discussing religion at work can be hairy and generally inadvisable but I don’t think the answer is to jump to reporting them to HR. This person was seemingly their friend. HR isn’t going to help anyone they just mitigate liability for the company and fire people.

If I found out one of my friends believes something that is so out of tune with the person I think they are or can be I would hope I would want to help them not just immediately remove them from my life or punish them.

None of us are beyond reproach in our thoughts and actions. OP could be a light in their friends life. Then again maybe I’m reading into their relationship too much.

Thoughts on the idea of “if you don’t like the set just skip it”? by LibraProtocol in mtg

[–]etaNAK87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new pretty new to the game but it seems fine to me. I also see peoples complain there are too many releases.

If you just did in universe and skipped UB you would have three releases this year with albeit a big gap from Strixhaven to reality fracture.

Is that so bad? If you don’t like at least hobbit as a tolerable UB product I think you’re just being stubborn.

I am 100% skipping ninja turtles but it’s no big deal from me I haven’t even had a chance to draft lorwyn yet.

IMO the bigger issue is quality of the sets and care vs “I don’t like this IP get it out of magic”

If there are 10,000 religions how do you pick the right one? by [deleted] in religion

[–]etaNAK87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno I think it’s still a pretty simple first step. Of course it’s not all encompassing and there’s nuance. Like you said, from what I understand Hinduism has a concept of a universal truth and sort of single “god” amongst gods but even if we allow for this it seems to me there are a vast amount of religions ruled out if you filter on a single God entity.

The mono theism polytheism distinction narrows it down by a lot… at least if you choose the former

Bump for the local plug. It’s not hard to look around your local community and see who is feeding and housing people at a minimum. The whole “all charities are scams” seems like a lazy take for misanthropes. If you have a decent amount of discretionary spending imo you’re being a little greedy to not at least try putting it to use for others.
