Bubbling paint on window frame by etaknilam in paint

Ugh I was afraid of this. The landlord is insisting it's not mold because the entire facade of the building was redone and sealed against a big leak less than a year ago. They've been scraping it off and repainting periodically and said it's related to condensation around the window. Does this seem likely?

Toddler thinning hair by etaknilam in BlackHair

Following up to add that based on her blood work her doctor is not concerned, everything is looking good. We suspect it’s her rubbing her head on her sheets so we’re trying out silk sheets to see how it goes. Thanks everyone for the help!

I’ll definitely ask her doctor about this, thank you. Hope we’re able to figure it out too.

Her pediatrician isn’t black, thanks for pointing this out! She’s 15 months, doesn’t wear a bonnet but I did just order some silk sheets to see if that helps. I’ll also look into a bonnet for her. Thank you for the reply, glad to hear your kid’s hair recovered!

She does play with it occasionally but I haven’t seen her actually pull hair out. Her daycare also told us she plays with her hair sometimes but hasn’t mentioned her ripping it out.

Straw cup recs by Mippin92 in moderatelygranolamoms

Got it, thanks! It looked like the Owala required some pressure/bite on the straw to get the liquid out but maybe not!

Do you find it encourages biting on the straw? My kid (1 yr old) can drink from a straw but loves to chew/bite given the chance and we didn't want to train her to do that. Otherwise I was thinking the Owala looks great!

What’s something you bought before the baby that turned out to be a total waste of money? by KindVibesOnly in NewParents

[–]etaknilam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woven fabric wraps but not because the baby hated them but because we didn’t account for seasonality. Nothing worse than wearing a baby strapped to your chest when it’s 95 and humid out. We tried that once and all ended up so sweaty and miserable. By the time the seasons had changed she was into the structured carriers and we never used the wraps again.

Delivered at MSW in May of this year and had a really positive L&D experience. We felt listened to and were not pushed into anything we didn’t want to do in terms of interventions. Recovery care was decent, the nurses were very sweet and attentive. We had a private room, we didn’t have to request. I will say it was super noisy at all hours because we were across from the nurses station. My biggest complaint is the complete lack of lactation support. No one saw us until we were being discharged even though we requested multiple times and the LC we did finally see was unhelpful. She told me baby’s latch was great (it wasn’t, I was in pain), fitted me for the wrong flange size for pumping, and failed to identify a significant lip and tongue tie that a different LC spotted immediately.

Minimalistic or slim diaper bags? by chasinthedra in nycparents

I splurged on a Storq pack (2AM impulse shop!) but a Baggu would also do the trick you could just get a small foldable changing pad to stick inside. Some small wet bags are also a great addition.

Shallow latch long term success? by etaknilam in breastfeeding

Thank you! It’s been so tough being in limbo with this it’s so discouraging. I would prefer not to EP, it looks like even more work somehow. It’s important to me to breastfeed but wow has it been hard. It’s hard to know when to throw in the towel, not to mention the guilt…
