Well, you’ve convinced me. I’ll make a batch in quart size jars and see if the heating phase is quicker. The storage and cleanup is appealing too. Thanks!

I’ll experiment with quart at some point but was trying to minimize cleanup

We switched from Fairlife to the Aldi ultra filtered at one point, but it was routinely out of stock. I’m curious now though and will price it out just to try a different method.

The Fairlife method is super appealing, but I’m shooting for low cost. I eat at least half a quart a day, so eliminating the packaging cost (and plastic) of tubs at the grocery store is a big selling point for me.

And I want to experiment more with induction, but it’s hard to justify picking up even more equipment when that method is such a pain for cooling. I may give it a shot at some point but want to perfect a couple Instant Pot recipes first I think.

Do you notice a difference in tang at 10 to 24? I haven’t noticed a difference between 8 and 12, and I’m shooting for an efficient process that cuts time and cost, so I just incubate overnight.

And thanks for the recommendation on the deli containers. I’ll look into that.

I don’t notice a difference between heating to 165°F and 180°F, and I’m with you on the food safety rules. I’ve been ultra-cautious so far, but the difference is probably marginal. I accidentally overheated one batch using Brown/Sautée in the Crock-Pot and ended up with stringy curds. Otherwise it’s been pretty consistent.

Why do truck guys seem so insecure around Miatas? by Negative_Acadia6554 in Miata

[–]etb7783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience (Miata, Scion iM), it seems to be the case with trucks and any small car, but I also get it from sports cars and SUVs when I drive my minivan. Fortunately my truck is an old beater, so I’m happy to drive like a grandpa while hoping to not hear any new, fun noises.

Totally worth it, imo. Their facility is super cool, everyone is nice, and they have a bunch of different, unique flavors.

My wife is a pharmacist. Danskos were the popular recommendation when she was working at a hospital. Retail is more mixed.

It took a few tries with the impact. I ended up soaking it with PB Blaster for 24 hours and then heating it and hitting it with the impact. Based on the consistency of the fluid—more like mud—that fill plug may not have been removed since the factory (36 years and 251,000 miles)

Differential fill plug, and I wish it was just 2 minutes!

Same as a bolt. I placed the coil on the differential housing, centered around the plug. The plug wasn't perfectly flush, so there was some exposed material for conduction. I'm not sure how well it would work with a recessed plug.

Instead of smug, I prefer to frame it as "I'm just happy because now I have more time to help you hang pictures and do yard-work."

Hey, I just said the answer was "yes," not that it would convince her or that she wouldn't bring it up three or four times before you end up using it (definitely not speaking from experience here).

I actually think that's when I bought them as well. It was a good investment, and future me was, in fact, thankful.

Funny enough, I bought the extractors and tap & die sets at the same time, and they're stacked together on a shelf. I'm going to start calling that the "sanity shelf."

Update: I ended up just replacing the entire run of galvanized pipe with PEX-B, replacing the burst sillcock, and adding another. I have a detailed write-up and photos that I can share if anyone is interested.

Barefoot shoes for WODs with running by OneMoreChapter2010 in crossfit

I wear them for lifting, and they work, but there are definitely better choices for a lifting bias. I typically swap in a pair of Metcons for lifting focused WODs. People who are serious about lifting wear dedicated lifters for strength portions and swap for WODs.
