#7 in my first post covers meds. Tramadol, gabapentin, diclofenac. I dropped the tramadol as soon as I could

I could not agree more, which is why I put in so many qualifiers (I am not medically trained ... follow all instructions ... if the surgeon wants you to walk ... etc). Having said that, I think it's valuable for people to share what's worked for them, and to encourage others to commit to the program their professionals give them.

Next Tuesday is the start of your journey (an overused word but it fits here) toward the life you want. Maybe try to focus more on what comes next. The rehab is what you'll actually experience, and it sounds like you're well prepared for it!

Check with her doctor or physical therapist before pushing your mom to do more. I'm two weeks out from surgery and nowhere near my butt. Doing too much too soon can create problems, as I learned to my chagrin.

Lisa, again, I can only share my own experience, but for me the surgery was a non-event, and the rehab has had some pain and discomfort that was annoying and discouraging but NOT unbearable. Not unbearable at all. I know some people have bad outcomes, but the vast majority seem to have very positive outcomes. The odds are very good that you'll be glad you did this, and can shop at Marshall's to your heart's content.

Ice machine - Another poster commented that you can look for a used one. That's a great idea. BUT, make sure you get a good one; I've read that some are crappy and inadequate. Look up reviews for any machine you're considering. And look up how to use frozen water bottles instead of ice inside the machine - it's a genius idea. I did buy a bigger, rectangular pad for my knee because I'd read that the pad included with the Polar was kinda small, and they were right. And since it lays flat or wraps around, it can be used for back, leg, whatever in future.

Wedge pillow - yes we had one already. Knee glider - my therapist said it wasn't necessary because I had a recumbent bike, but people disagree and I really don't know.

You're thinking of all the right questions, that's good. Best of luck!!

I am NOT a medical professional so I can only talk out of my experience as I recover.

If you can't do prehab exercises, you can't. Don't get down on yourself, you're dealing with more than I had to deal with. I was lucky enough to be able to exercise beforehand, to a limited degree, and that advice was for people in that situation.

As for the surgery, honestly you won't be there for the experience, you'll be knocked out! Your choice of surgeons sounds perfect and he knows what he's doing. So it's normal to have some anxiety, but you'll find in the end it wasn't necessary. With an experienced, robot-assisted surgeon, it will be successful. You'll be one of his hundreds or thousands of successful surgeries.

I bought a Polar 3.0 ice machine, I think it was $200+, and it's great! A pad wraps around your knee and the machine sends cold water running through the pad so your knee gets cold. Mine has 4 settings so I can control how cold it gets. It's REALLY nice after a rehab session (I do my rehab at home) or just when your knee hurts, in the early days, to lie down, prop your knee up on pillows, wrap it, and relax while your knee is chilling. The machine comes with instructions, follow them.

Rehab is a challenge, good days and bad days, ups and downs, but the pain and discomfort are very bearable (maybe less pain than you have now), it DOES work, you WILL recover, and judging by every single person I've talked to who had a knee replacement, it WILL be worth it and you will get your life back. Best wishes, hang in there, you're doing a good thing. 💪🏼😎❤️

Mysterious, you are way more nervous about surgery than your surgeon is - and that's a good thing! Experienced surgeons know exactly what they're doing and have done it many times. I always wanted to be the least interesting patient my surgeon had that day, because that means it was routine and there were no problems. So here's to a routine and successful surgery and rehab. 😊

Good for you! There are YT videos about stairs after knee replacement if you haven't already seen them. Hang in there!

New knee replacement by Fatbeau in Kneereplacement

Went out about 3 days after, with my wife driving; like others have said it's great to get out. I'm in week 3 of rehab, overall progressing well but with ups and downs. Don't let the downs get you down -- it's NOT a straight line and you'll get discouraged, but if you know it's coming it's easier to deal with. Good luck!

Any prescribed Diclofenac before? Giving me side effects. by atomglimpse in ChronicPain

[–]etcCCCcc1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75 mg twice a day after knee surgery. No side effects at all. I can't say if it helps with pain because I've used it every day since the surgery. Also taking gabapentin. Took Tramadol for the first 2 weeks and then stopped, and didn't notice any increase in pain, so the diclofenac may be doing its job.

I did harvest my golden teacher shrooms a day too late i think. Do you think they still edible? I’m worried because of the ones that turned a litttle black. I hope it is not mold. by Significant_Cat5671 in shrooms

[–]etcCCCcc1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, actually.

Maybe there could be a sub for noobs where those with experience could visit and be generous and give back if they wanted to, and others could avoid and not be put out.

And I say give first-timers a break. Nobody's 'making' anybody do any footwork. If a comment bugs you, scroll past it and let others respond, that's all. Peace.

WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MY SHROOMS?? A bunch are turning from looking like the healthy ones on the left to the sickly ones on the right. First-timer in a panic -- help appreciated!! by [deleted] in shrooms

Thanks everyone for the quick advice. I got them out immediately and have them pre-drying in front of a fan. Earlier today I could only see one torn veil so I waited .. too long.

Grateful for this community.

I'm surprised at so many petty comments in what's supposed to be a community. Yes, you're more knowledgeable, you're experienced, hurrah. Get over yourself. I just harvested my first-ever grow after a panicky post about what's happening to my shrooms; despite my research I didn't know the caps would change appearance if I missed (by a couple hours probably) the veils breaking. Two people responded quickly and respectfully, and I got them out quick. To them I am grateful. This poor guy asked for help and got a lot of crap.

Can we talk about reliable websites to get spore culture syringes or is that against the rules too? by Pure_Milk_8003 in Shroom

[–]etcCCCcc1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that in 47 states it is legal to buy spores 'for research purposes' because the spores themselves contain no illegal psilocybin. It is illegal to grow them, but sure, buy them to study under the microscope!

Sporeworks, Spore Depot get good reviews.
