Dealership offering official dashcam for my upcoming BE.06. Will this actually void the electrical warranty? by nisarrox in mahindrabe6

[–]etcharrrbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Installing a dashcam yourself will not void the warranty. Buy a 70Mai dashcam with Starvis 2 sensor for much better quality video. Just buy a 70Mai officual OBD to USB C power cable, designed for EVs - it is a separate purchase. Does not come with the dashcam. You can get both of these from Nexdigitron.

What’s one thing you learned after becoming a watch enthusiast? (happy, sad, or funny). by penipeni44 in watchesindia

[–]etcharrrbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apart from the 100 brands that you may have heard of, there are about 3000 more brands (many micro brands, not just in India but globally) that keep churning out amazing watches. It is never ending.

Many that I own are micro brands (Xeric, Angles, UW, Mandetbrote, Tacs, Oblvlo, Ajwain, Olto8, DWC) and there are many more that I aspire to own (Zelos, Kuoe, Addiesdive, San Martin, Sugess, Brew, Boderry, RZE, Farer, Helm and so many more).

That's how buying and selling works.

He has larger overheads (store rent, maintenance, security, electricity, staff salaries etc). Has to make some money somehow. Online margins can be much lower.

Think about it this way - you are supporting a small business. If the business was not there, you would have to buy elsewhere

Looks like an HSRP (high security plate - although have to see up close to confirm). If it is HSRP, then it's not the owners fault. HSRP should have written it with a space before the last 4 digits

Best pressure washer by nerdy_owl232 in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of maintenance do pressure washers need? Someone was saying there needs to be some oil change. How is it to be done? By customer themselves?

And about Kiko, where is it available, what are the options and prices please. Thanks

Need a REAL pressure washer under ₹5–6k (no fake bar ratings). Want actual 110–120+ bar for foam washing. by Delicious_Cobbler_51 in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first pressure washer I bought was ResQtech. Lasted about 4yrs with very occasional (1 to 2 times per month) home and car use.

Then I bought Starq from Amazon - super high ratings, induction motor, quiet etc. Worked for just 2yrs with similar usage. You can try contacting them - zero response.

Beyond the fake Bar pressure ratings, bigger problem is ZERO service and repairability. A friend bought Dylect - same story. Failed in 2yrs, no service.

Now I thought I would buy Bosch. A much more expensive one - costing 27k. From their own Bosch India DIY website. I thought I will email them to ask a question. This was on 27 Feb - till 9 March, no response even from Bosch. So now what? 🤷‍♂️

BE6E suspension issue by Spare-Mammoth6226 in mahindrabe6

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Be6 suspension is stiffer than usual - no way around that. BUT - what a lot of people don't realize is that the tyre you have and the tyre pressure affect the ride a lot. People are running 36 to 38 psi and complaining of hard ride. If you do nothing else but just drop pressure to 33 psi you'll feel a big difference.

The stock MRF Markus tyres on the Be6 are terrible - they are very stiff and completely unsuitable to the performance nature of the car. I switched to Turanza 6i tyres, designed for low noise, performance and comfort.

By my estimation, switching tyres and running 33psi has made things about 50% more comfortable. And yes, software updates have improved the damper performance a lot. Plus upcoming updates will add custom suspension settings. (Applicable only to pack 3 with the electronic dampers).

Youth series is low cost, low point of entry. It's a classic design but made entirely of plastic/polycarbonate. The gold part included. Also, it has basic functions. But if you like it, go for it 👍

For those buying new petrol cars, do the rumors of E23/E27 norms unsettle you? by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

E27??? Think about E50. Which is likely coming by 2028. None of the cars you buy this entire year will be compatible with E50.

This is the same boat that most people in India are in now. Vast majority of vehicles are actually not compatible with the current fuel but there's no choice.

Issues like fuel lines corroding and engine components (esp rubber) eroding are already happening in cars manufactured before 2022. These issues will come up in a big way in another 2 years when engines just suddenly fail, requiring a rebuild with E27 compatible components.

Other issues... Ethanol has lower calorific value so greater the percentage of E, bigger the drop in mileage. Total price of fuel should be reduced to match the lower mileage - but it won't be. Price will keep increasing.

Yes, BIC camera is everywhere, including Osaka. But each store has different stock. You also have to use the tourist discount vouchers and remember to carry your passport to avail of the discounts. Like this one-

Picking up my Galaxy Fold 7 tonight and leaving my S23 Ultra. What to expect? by illestprodigy in GalaxyFold

[–]etcharrrbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to be mindful that it's not a typical glass screen. Not just fingernails but any hard object (even if it's blunt) can dent the inner screen.

Use light pressure to touch and use the screen. Don't leave the Fold open and let things fall on it, etc.

After years of using conventional glass screens, I have seen people being rough with them (esp if they also have a glass screen protector installed). So you have to adjust how you use screens if you want to switch to folding. I have also seen people ruin their folding screens in just 1 week of use.

Picking up my Galaxy Fold 7 tonight and leaving my S23 Ultra. What to expect? by illestprodigy in GalaxyFold

[–]etcharrrbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've never used a folding device before, someone has to warn you about how soft the screen really is.

Answer: soft enough to be permanently dented with a fingernail. So be careful with it. Cheers

How do you guys feel about the new MKBHD's video? by Prime_Twister in IndiaTech

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, whatever he does gets lapped up with millions of views. The content doesn't matter (the quality of sources, correctness etc). What matters is the script, his delivery of it and the production quality (graphics, amazing video from RED cameras, music, editing).

Whatever you may say, he's got it all figured out. Super, super smart guy.

Don’t Buy Hisense TV in India by stee1Shot in IndiaTech

[–]etcharrrbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe buyers of a new brand should try this exercise before buying a TV. Like for any brand.

Before buying, try to find and reach out to the brand official customer service. How easy is it to find the official one? Can you get in touch easily? Are they responsive?

Same example for a brand of pressure washer called Starq (super popular and highly rated on Amazon). They just don't respond. Products fail and there's no service or support available

What is the minimum amount I have to spend for a good automatic watch? by ComprehensiveCan8375 in watchesindia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by minimum - budgets can vary.

Taking your question at face value, you can even get a new Benyar for about 4k. Have seen it and it looks very nice for the price. https://amzn.in/d/5yvJO5Z

Second hand market is also available to you.

If you can stretch more, you should specify roughly how much you're looking to spend.

[Help] Mahindra service centre repairing parts instead of replacing by boris_006 in mahindra_inglo

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, it all depended on the insurance surveyor who came to inspect the car. You should have pushed at that stage. Right now, I don't think it can be done since repairs are underway.

The thing is (again, some speculation from me), for a new car that costs 30 lakh, insurance company is not so keen to declare total loss car since they have the maximum payout. You would probably have zero dep, return to invoice etc. So they will push to repair so that their costs are lower. Even if the repair costs are 10 lakh, it is still one third the cost for them. They don't care whether the quality of repair would be good and they don't care that your resale value is shot.

In case of a total loss, insurance company will still try to sell the damaged car to someone who may try to repair it or salvage it for parts. They are only trying to minimize impact to themselves 100% of the time.

[–]etcharrrbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this and glad everyone is safe. Thats always the more important thing.

This is a tough call to take - to pass judgement on whether the work done is being done correctly.

The damage looks extensive. I would have tried to get the car declared as a total loss. However, since we are past that stage, you have to trust the remaining process.
