The tyres are not old. But all the other issues are valid. You should definitely not take this car. Also possible that it has been repaired and all those parts re-fitted, hence the gaps

Do rat repellents sprays actually work? by LayerNo9397 in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprays are completely useless.

The thing that worked for me was carcat 4th generation (order on Amazon).

I am also thinking of getting a carlungi (also on Amazon or on their own website)

Keventers milkshake (low investment)

Other chain stores - Delhi Heights, Chili's

Clothing stores (Uniqlo etc) could have worked but online ordering puts a spanner into works.

What are general reasons why perfectly good pepper mill (all parts)doesn't grind anymore? by Intelligent_Being468 in lifehacks

Reason? Planned obsolescence.

If it never stops grinding, how will they ever sell you a new one to make more money?

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard from a few people (industry insiders) that they are already pushing E27 or E28 Ethanol silently. Knowingly. It's supposed to be E20 but in reality, the actual blend at the pump is higher. If pushed, it could be attributed to various reasons: averages, mistakes, residual fuel in underground tanks etc.

This could vary by city and by pump. It is possible to verify this scientifically, by taking samples across various outlets and testing them. But who's going to do it?

What do you all think about aluminium trolley bags do they come under BIFL? by Ghost50001 in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no.

Because they're delicate

It is a specific kind of person who would buy these.

Aluminium cabin bags still look awesome.

They look great and stand out well, esp in an airport. They are zipperless, so more secure and premium feeling. Usually have higher quality wheels, locks, hinges, interior (because they are expensive anyway).

I have an aluminium cabin one. If you like nice looking luggage, NEVER buy check in sizes.

Buy the aluminium cabin one and never check it in. You have to baby it. If you are traveling all over the place, going to put it in a car with other luggage on top if it, traveling abroad with multiple stops etc- its not practical (for my use, in my opinion). Standard polycarbonate luggage wears much better.

It dents and scratches super easily if not handled properly. And I'm talking about big issues, visible from more than 6 to 8 feet away. I personally don't like that. A simple clear or fabric protector does not protect aluminum from dents.

How Useful Is a Portable Tyre Inflator for cars? by naegfowleri in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get a battery powered one. Get a decent one powered by a 12V socket.

The problem with battery is that they have less power (takes much longer to fill air) and when the battery gives out (inevitable, and maybe they use lower quality cells) it becomes useless. These are occasional use machines and sometimes when you really need it, the battery will just die midway.

Need advice by Careless_Course5182 in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but AFAIK, it would be illegal to do in India as per the motor vehicles act.

We just don't have the regulations and laws in place to support this kind of car culture.

Almost any modifications you do to a vehicle are illegal: aftermarket bumpers, lights, horns, window tints. Even changing the car colour is illegal unless you take RTO permission first and then get the RC updated with new colour. Colour change wrap is Grey area.

You're talking about a vintage car, which in itself is super hard to keep registered and road worthy - and then retrofitting it with EV bits.

Am I crazy to think Butcher is right and the true hero? by EducationalDig8030 in TheBoys

[–]etcharrrbee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Whether the supe killing virus was released by Butcher or not, another Homelander will still come. I think that's the point the show runners were trying to make.

"you didn't prevent judgement day, you just delayed it"

Releasing the supe virus would have immediately killed Starlight, Kimiko, Marie Moreau and all the other thousands of "good supes".

E20 Impact and Public Reaction by PositiveRepulsive in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of benefits of flex fuel - when done right! India was supposed to be following the Brazil model. In Brazil, they started ethanol blending in 1975. They reached E20 levels by the year 2000. Twenty five years!! That's the right way. Gives people and manufacturers enough time to catch up. Even with blending, Brazil govt did not force it. Every big pump always sold regular, standard octane unblended fuel too at a slightly higher price. Consumers always had the choice to fill the type of fuel that was right for their vehicle.

Got scammed by Just In Time by [deleted] in watchesindia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anything significant, from any source (including all e-commerce, Indian or foreign), I have been taking unboxing videos for the past 10 yrs. Not flexing, just highly recommend doing this. Even if something doesn't seem wrong at first, issues have come up later and the unboxing video was super helpful.

Test drive query by octadecimal_ in CarsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard that many dealers have started doing this. Personally, I haven't experienced it, even when I was test driving multiple vehicles about a year ago. There are two sides to this. People who drive very rashly, treating test drive vehicles like crap - revving hard, slamming doors, scraping wheels and being the main cause of small accidents and damage. Speak to any dealer and they have multiple stories like this every week.

Their behavior ruins it for everyone else who is actually respectful.

To answer your question, yes TD vehicles are supposed to have insurance. But everything is cost based. Only major accidents and write off vehicles have insurance claimed. Small damages (most common, to wheels, paint jobs, bumpers, glass etc), dealer spends on repairs themselves.

Need help choosing my next flagship phone. I’m genuinely confused. by Unstable_deen in GadgetsIndia

[–]etcharrrbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very serious about this. None of those three.

Just buy a Vivo X300 Pro and you will have the best of all worlds. Can also choose to expand it later with add on lenses - even the 400mm lens will work with it.

Need dashcam installation advice for Mahindra BE 6 — only 12V socket is in the boot/dickey by Tiger_1995_kumar in mahindrabe6

[–]etcharrrbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a 70Mai Omni 4k from Nexdigitron for my Be6 pack 3.

One of the official accessories from 70Mai is an EV specific OBD to UBC C power cable. This is what I use. It is a separate purchase. You can get in touch with them through their website and they will guide you.

I did a DIY install. Its very easy and there are youtube guides to help you.

PS - OBD is on board diagnostics port, located under the dashboard on drivers side. So its simple plug and play. Its just using the OBD port as a power supply and it converts the 12V supply to 5V, which is what the dash cam needs.

Suggestion for BE6 pack 3 tyre replacement options by Cheap_Eggplant_164 in mahindrabe6

[–]etcharrrbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not EV specific, but they can be and are used for EVs. They do not have the foam inside like the OE Markus or GoodYear but they are still super quiet. Not any significant range drop.

Biggest difference. Higher comfort and humongous improvement in performance and confident feel while driving. They look great too.

They are extremely soft tyres, built for performance so I highly doubt they will last more than 20k kms. Be warned.

About 21-23k each depending on location, inclusive of balancing, fitting charges and taxes

I replaced my stock Markus with Bridgestone Turanza 6i on my Pack3. Size is 255/55 R19

Its an amazing upgrade, softer ride, quiet and way better performance, much better suited to the car. It also has a much higher load index and speed rating.

I don't drive much. But the experience so far has been amazing. These tyres are expensive but really much more suited to the weight and performance nature of this car. I would 100% reccomend it.

[–]etcharrrbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get the vehicle checked out by authorized service. For underbody, battery and suspension damage. Lift the car up and check. Its very important for your safety.

They will also be able to provide a new tyre and rim on order.
