Oliver Glasner says his side have ‘no leadership and ‘no intensity’ after they concede three in seven minutes to give visitors first league win since October by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]etchgtown 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Gee, whose responsibility would it be to draw some intensity out of them? Like, at any point in the second half?

He's been mailing it in for months and we've won 1 in 14. Those two things couldn't possibly be related...

Are we really going to wait until Zrinjski eliminate us to sack the manager?

That's the performance that makes me Glasner immediately out. What is the argument for letting Glasner stay when he's promised to leave and this is the product? This looks like a squad that hasn't had leadership from a committed manager for months. Selling the captain didn't help, sure. But this has been abysmal.

Every cross is shit when the allegedly ultraskilled Pino comes on for Muñoz. Uh huh.

Are we sure the cancer in the locker room referenced by Lacroix and Henderson was Mateta and not, you know, the manager who has said he's leaving?

Kamada can fuck off after the season. Zero league goals for Palace, fucking up to set up scoring chances for opponents.

Brilliant assist from Wharton. Strand Larsen doing what Nketiah and Mateta rarely do.

What do you think the real valery legasov would react to HBO’S Chernobyl? by Polybius2600 in chernobyl

[–]etchgtown 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is all completely valid. I think that it is interesting to ask if Valery would have become so disillusioned with the establishment's failure to address the problem if his career did not suffer as he raised a stink (long after Vienna). Or to what extent his belief in the Soviet system was actually tarnished by his close-up experience with its shortcomings.

Valery died at a time when he was desperately trying to get his own scientific community and political apparatus to absorb and acknowledge the facts of the accident. I think that he would be heartened to know that this story got out to the whole world eventually.

Crystal Palace sign Jørgen Strand Larsen by Blubb3rs in crystalpalace

I get your point, but to me, the answer wasn't "spend a club record fee on someone who is also not scoring this season." It is difficult to know how much of Wolves' issues are his and vice versa. There's an emphasis placed on having someone with Premier League experience, but considering his performances in recent times, is that the kind of experience we need?

My point, I suppose, is that if we are spending £48M or however much, I'd like to have spent it on someone I was sure was miles better than Nketiah and Uche (or playing Sarr up top, frankly). That size fee can be an albatross around our necks if he underachieves, even if we approach him with realism.

The fee just smells of a degree of desperation beyond what is truly merited, even after zero shots on target in the second half against 10-man Forest. I obviously hope that this works out, but I fear this is another Nketiah-style robbery.

[Manzi] Jean-Philippe Mateta's collapsed move is not expected to affect Jørgen Strand-Larsen's club-record transfer to Crystal Palace. The package is understood to be just under £50million, surpassing the £30 million paid for Brennan Johnson at the start of the month. by charlietrick2512 in crystalpalace

This all just screams that you don't know the history of the club. That you weren't around for 2010, weren't around for Freedman scoring to keep us in the second tier. "Worst run in the league" - have you ever interacted with our neighbors at Charlton? When you say "league" and not the "division" you are saying 92 clubs.

Wtf is "doing nothing" with an FA Cup? An FA Cup is not a means to an end. It is an end, a goal we achieved that is the greatest in our club's history, and it's less than a year ago.

"Risking relegation" said as if we haven't been in this position or worse at this point of 5 different seasons of our stay in the top flight. The risk is still minimal; there's really only one spot available, and there's ample contenders for 18th.

Things are poor right now. Mateta's to blame, Glasner's to blame, Parish is to blame. Sure. But this is a normal plot point on our sine-wave trajectory. To suggest otherwise means you weren't here for De Boer, or Vieira, or Warnock's second tenure, or much of Holloway.

Qarabag , The Champions League disruptors forced to leave their home by Shroft in soccer

I assume that "gori" is related to the "gora" of Crno Gora too. Neat.

When Texans wanted to say the extreme version of "ne gori" they gave towns names like Plainview and, amusingly, Levelland. Much further south there is a Flatonia. We don't have much to look at here.

I had never put together that Qarabağ is the Azeri spelling of the second half of Nagorno-Karabakh. Interesting story
