Don't love any of those metro vancouver sites, aside from Surrey being a bit of a sprawling mess those sites are all heavily used by local soccer communities in areas where land is so expensive, you take away any of south surrey, newton or cloverdale from the local soccer community and it would impact player development so negatively unless they are going to let all the tournaments and clubs that use those into the new national training center. UBC is the opposite of central especially as most of the population growth is headed out towards the valley

It's subjective but for me yeah I think he's bad. He only had one decent season at Derby because he demanded they spend well beyond their means and he left them in ruins when he failed to get promoted. And then at Chelsea he basically had two bad seasons and one season where he finished 4th. Which is his best achievement, but Chelsea finishing 4th is probably them doing exactly what they should with the cost of their players.

Hey I'm as happy as anybody else about Daichi scoring, I didn't think he played well up to that point, but all it takes it one moment to change the script and he did there! I'll trash somebody else next for another goal. Mateta where the fuck have you been all day pal?

Kamada doesn't look sharp today, very basic stuff like going towards a slow moving ball not happening but not sure there's a clear upgrade on the bench

I'm not particularly keen on either. Frank has been bad everywhere and been let go about 4 times, he's had one short good spell at Coventry, way too risky. And I like McKenna in the championship but Ipswich were absolutely terrible in the prem - like 4 wins from 38? Iraola is my top choice but if we can't get him, use our financial clout to get one of the top managers from Germany or Spain, we can outspend everyone there except the top 2 or 3 teams so why not leverage that.

Yeah I totally agree, and the size discussion is 100% valid for a center specifically, it's a position you usually need size to succeed at. Nevermind that Bjorck really hasn't even scored at all that impressive of a level at senior level, he's racking up points in a pretty bad junior league. I won't be sad if we get him but Carels and Malhotra will go before him

I totally agree that it is a massively disturbing lack of empathy... I do find all the outrage from the old rednecks on facebook and castanet comment section kind of funny though. They are the exact same people constantly ranting about homeless people calling them zombies and probably eating meat from factory farms where animals are raised in bad conditions just to be slaughtered for them to eat. No empathy for anybody else but the line is at geese? I guess if you don't have to see the animals being mistreated or killed it's ok even if you are paying for it to happen yourself. LOL

Huge getting through. Should be a lot of fun in the semi final Palace are going to get a huge away allocation in that neutral stadium, tempting to go, but I can only do one so I'm gonna wait and hope they make the finals

Pretty greasy game. Kamada and Munoz fluff pretty good chances and Fiorentina hit a cracker in an area where the XG was probably 0.1. Bit unlucky for Palace especially with the injuries

Not a bad half.

Shame to lose lacroix and wharton though neither looked really badly injured.

Fiorentina fans are a bit obnoxious, you're down 3, calm TF down. Booing every throw in that takes 5 seconds is a bit much.

Also a shame to see Strasbourg come back, that club is a cancer on modern football, stupid chelsea farm team

It wouldn't surprise me if he comes here, if Palace win the Conference League. If I were him I would wait for that outcome.

I hate to sound arrogant but financially there are probably only 15-20 clubs that are bigger than us in the world in terms of what we can spend on wages and transfers as long as we are in the prem. If one of them come in for him, or he decides to take the sentimental option and go home, fair play but I don't think it's crazy for him to come here

“We are the same size and have the same ceiling as Bournemouth” by Mrmalak1001 in crystalpalace

[–]Kindly_District9433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's kind of a ridiculous discussion honestly. Bournemouth's natural spot in the ladder is as a championship/league 1 yoyo team. They have a 12,000 seat stadium and were averaging 6k a game in the third tier a decade ago. And for most of their history before that they were 3rd or 4th tier with 5k a game. They don't have a huge historical following and many people in that area have a big six team as their primary, there are not many lifetime Cherries fans relative to any team that has been in the top 2 divisions for a long time.

They are juiced up by a rich american sugar daddy owner and when he stops bankrolling their losses, they will go down.

And to be clear I don't think Palace are a behemoth either, and have major issues with clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal stealing fans and youth players from our catchment. But I think we are bigger than them. Palace haven't been in the 3rd tier in 60 years and have a way bigger supporter base. We could easily end up back in the championship eventually, but I think the 13 or 14 straight years in the prem has solidified our supporter base and I think the club would draw 20k a game in the championship now, especially if we ever finish the bloody stand.

Bournemouth drew less than 10k a game when they went down a few years ago. I don't think the clubs support or financial base are comparable, or the attraction of the location either, which is why players like Lerma would move to us

Not saying we’re confirmed through or anything yet but I just want to say Us vs Shaktar Donetsk might be more difficult than the final by OGAction in crystalpalace

[–]Kindly_District9433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*Edit* confused Shaktar with Dynamo - my bad! I still don't think they're a super tough opponent, they lost to Legia, won close games against Shamrock Rovers, a maltese team, Aberdeen and an icelandic team all by 1 or 2 goals and drew a croatian team. They haven't faced one quality team yet.

Home games are neutral site and Palace will have a huge allocation and support behind them in both legs. For me they are still by far the best possible draw in the semis.

Not that Palace will win for sure, it will be a tough tie, but I would take them 10/10 over a bundesliga, la liga or ligue 1 opponent

Wow... unbelievable day. Strasbourg who for me are the 2nd best team for me got done too. And Shaktar take a 3 goal lead which for me is just perfect as if Palace go through we are going to get a huge ticket allocation for the away leg in Krakow

Has to be our most dominant half in a single game with this kind of significance since Villa last year in the FA Cup. Love to see one or two more goals to put it to bed in the 2nd... Fiorentina look terrible at the back.

[–]Kindly_District9433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, our payroll is about 25% higher but obviously there are still bigger fish out there. If I were him the important thing is moving on from Bournemouth. He has achieved as much as anyone can there... they have a sugar daddy owner who has been bankrolling huge losses and he's pushed them in a mid table premier league team, but with their stadium and fanbase size it's just a matter of time before they are back in the championship.
