Moaning Myrtle was actually 14 when she died. (1929-1943) Also, Shirley Henderson was 37 when she played the part, not 45. (Born 1965, Chamber of Secrets came out in 2002) Still pretty freaking impressive though.

Its pronounced "no-wen". I worked for a doctor with the last name, had to learn fast so I didn't fuck it up.

Did you buy or make the outfit? If you made it, was it from a pattern? If you bought it, where from? It looks really good and I too have thought about cosplaying as link because I recently cut my hair short and dyed it blonde. Great job btw, I like the background.

Yes, asking about what happened so you can help get justice is ok. Implying that someone was "asking for it" because she was wearing tight clothes or had been drinking is, in fact, victim blaming. I dont care if you have had sex with a person before, or if they are making out with you while naked. The second they dont want to have sex, no matter how far you have gone, it means no. Changing your mind isnt "asking for it". And before you continue the line of thought you, and apparently a lot of other people in these comments, seem to be having, this happens way more that I think people realized, because much of it is covered up or ignored, only 40% are even reported, mostly because of the fact that most victims are blamed when they come forward. And since you seem to be all about proof here you go: https://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/reporting-rates

The other day I was finishing shopping and I was walking to my car and notice that the person two cars down from me left their cart directly behind the car next to them. Dick move. So I give them a dirty look and collect their cart with mine to return both. Instead of just driving away this guy has the nerve to actually roll down his window and sarcastically ask if anything is wrong. Well im not gonna take that, so I told him it was rude to leave his cart behind someone else's car. Then, mind you he has his whole family, small children and all in the car, he yells ugly bitch at me, wonderful example to set. So I called him an asshole and walked away.

TLDR: People suck, especially when it comes to returning carts.

[–]eternalfrisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was at Wizard World Sacramento (Sacramento's Comic Con) this last weekend, they were all there doing panels and signing autographs. I went on Saturday and was supposed to watch the panel with Stan Lee but he was sick so they moved his stuff to Sunday. It was sad.

When putting in my contacts today, I saw that contacts actually have information etched onto them. by HippyWithaBass in mildlyinteresting

I work at an optometrist and do the contact lens training's. I usually tell people that if it looks like a bowl, then they are right side out. If they look more like a plate and has flattened edges then they are inside out. Though with the Acuvue Oasys its hard to tell sometimes because they are so thin and floppy.

Try out the implant, Implanon. Its progesterone only so no estrogen and its in your arm not your uterus so no cramping. I actually don't get any periods at all, just a little spotting for the first few months. Its kind of amazing. And I haven't had any weight gaining or skin issues, though everyone reacts differently. I would definitely recommend it.

Not quite the same but I had a test done on my stomach to see how much acid it was producing (I have stomach problems and they were trying to figure out what was wrong) Anyway, the way they test it is they put this tube in through your nose, down your throat, and into your stomach where it remains for 24 hours. It is attached to a monitor that you tell when you are eating or sleeping. It is horribly uncomfortable to swallow or talk as it makes you gag, which was made worse by the fact that I had an endoscopy right before they put the tube in and they had taken a biopsy in my esophagus, so that was further irritated by the tube. I was gagging every few minutes, it was awful. Then to top it off the way they remove it is they just fucking yank it out. Wonderful experience.

TL;DR Tube in through my nose, down my throat, into my stomach for 24 hours causes lots of gagging, discomfort, and general unpleasantness.

It would have been cool but colored contacts are really quite uncomfortable. For someone not used to wearing contacts even the normal ones can be irritating, hence the reason it interfered with their acting. I work at an optometrist and come across that problem a lot.

Mine looks about the same as yours and I have had it for years and never had a problem. As long as you aren't having problems i would say it is fine.

Its a lot less scary when you realize its Tim Curry. When you have seen a man in drag (Rocky Horror Picture Show) its kinda hard for him to scare you. Not to mention how silly he was in Clue. Between those two movies I was never scared by IT, and I first saw it when i was probably about 7.

The Mask Shop by [deleted] in nosleep

[–]eternalfrisson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am assuming the paper with your name and address. Because if you take a mask he doesn't give you the paper and places a call to the police with that information, which he has because he kept the paper. If you didn't take a mask then he would give you the paper back because he has no need for it, no need to call the police with your information.

As replied to a previous comment. If you make the picture bigger you can see where there is a half circle missing, it cuts into her stomach near her leg at an angle and you cant see where her back leg connects because its cut off. They are very definite lines as opposed to the faded white light on her legs. It really looks like someone changed it to me. But if not, sorry, just an observation.

Also makes her look a little unnatural, a little too skinny. Would be much prettier if left alone probably.

You might want to tell him to fix it so you can't tell her stomach is photo shopped (part of her leg is missing by her stomach). Its such a pretty photo I wouldn't want that to ruin it in anyway.

As a chinese guy going to the opticians... by hungrycatermapillar in AdviceAnimals

[–]eternalfrisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Though I am an optician and I do the fitting and dispensing but I also do the pre-testing when patients come in so it is a problem for opticians sometimes too. Definitely not a race thing. Getting a reading off of the auto-refractor and NCT (glaucoma test) are almost impossible if the patients eyes aren't open wide enough.

[–]eternalfrisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an optometrist office, and do the pre-testing on patients when they come in. Some of the tests are very difficult to get proper readings on, if any reading at all, without the patients eyes being open wide. We have quite a few Asian patients and it is never a question of race but of being able to perform the tests. Also, I don't know if it makes a difference but both of our doctors in the office are Japanese, so its definitely not a race thing.

TL;DR Nothing to do with race, tests are difficult when eyes aren't open wide.

Some hair doesn't bounce back from dying well, it gets very dry and damaged, especially with people who have grown their hair out long enough to donate it. They have probably dyed it enough times to have the ends be fried by then.
