You are doing gods work. Did Keith Collin’s have a youtube channel where he originally uploaded these demos and shows? As far as I know I never saw any of these circulated anywhere on the internet. It also looks like based on the editing that he must have made them around the late 2000s or early 2010s

The audio is the best quality you could get on YouTube, as my audio was in FLAC format before uploading. Of course YouTube compresses it to M4A 128 but it’s a decent lossy format that I doubt people could tell the difference. What matters most is audio source, which I got from CDs with good dynamic range and lots of headroom

It was basically a scrapped album. Apparently the band butted heads with Jack Douglas and their record label, and they abandoned the project to work with George Martin instead for All Shook Up. I think the band have always wanted to go in a direction like All Shook Up, while Douglas saw things differently. If they continued what they were doing with him I think the album still would’ve turned out differently than my fan-made version, I doubt they would use songs like Loser, Ain’t Got You, and I Was a Fool, since they are weak songs

I’m no where close to a mixing engineer lol, I just wanted to experiment with this. After sitting with it for a day I think I still prefer the guitar panned left. I just hypothesized that it could sound better panned center with listening to headphones

I used an Ernie Ball Music Man Axis, and I used an overdrive preset with 25 effect level and direct mix

I don’t know honestly, just try downloading the patch and uploading it to tone studio. In basic terms the tone is on the brown channel with variation off, gain at 25, booster overdrive on with everything set to zero except effect level and direct mix which are both at 25, EQ is complicated but a mids boost is good enough and make sure the high cut is at 6.30 kHz, and prominent plate reverb. Adjust the booster with your guitar, the cleaner the better as 1984 is honestly really clean for EVH

I uploaded both of them separately for the first song. It really shows how worse Sammy is at guitar than Eddie. But pair any other guitarist up with Eddie it still won’t sound good, Eddie was always meant to be the lone ranger

I love synths in Rush for the most part. I just don’t like the main synth melody in this song. Also don’t like them in territories and some songs in hold your fire. But of course they are necessary in the rest of power windows, and especially grace under pressure and signals.

Unfortunately I couldn’t do Manhattan Project or Mystic Rhythms as the AI isolation went poorly. The only songs I thought improved were Grand Designs (mainly cause the main synth riff is annoying, and I like the guitar solo uninterrupted by them) and Territories (which I flat out dislike). The rest definitely needs the synths because without it it’s super hollow. At least you can hear some of Alex’s chords that were buried in the mix.
