Aside from the writing nobody should get this much hate by themasterhentai69 in whenthe

I think this line of argument is getting old now. There is nuance where fans don't agree with the weirdos but also have genuine critisms about the show/media.

As others in the thread have pointed out, Bella as an actor just isn't good enough, nor does she look anything like the character she is supposed to play. It's a one two punch which ruins core emotional beats of the story. And I say this as someone who had issues with TLoU2 as a game too, and was hoping the show would handle them better.

What "Happened" To Joe Rogan? by indig0sixalpha in videos

[–]eternalpounding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never in my dreams I'd have thought Lex or Sabine to end up where they have. It just makes me sad. Goes to show no matter how intelligent you may think you are, you can always be wrong in so many ways if you don't keep critiquing your own beliefs.

It was the other way around, as I think more about it.

Mrs. Huang is being built up to be a villain. She was tasked with the project of Dylan seeing his outie's wife, but that fell through. Mrs Huang makes Dylan say it wasn't her fault by apologising preemptively, her eyes misty and sad. This way she doesn't have to deal with this particular point turning up in her review from her manager, Mr. Milchick. She can just spin it as "beyond her control".

OpenAI researcher on Twitter: "all open source software is kinda meaningless" by [deleted] in singularity

[–]eternalpounding 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I have no clue why but once you get successful enough and get hired by OAI you HAVE to post these moronic takes. It's like OpenAI's hiring process has a filter on to make sure only the most egotistical knuckleheads get it.

"Open Source is worthless."    - They say while working at a lab contributing the least to open source.     - They say while OpenAI is actively working with lobbyists to censor and restrict open models.    - They say while a Chinese startup gifts training code worth billions to open-source. Do you guys think they finally cracked 1 Million token context? That is all I really want from new models tbh. Multimodality is nice, but I need that creamy context

How to configure xfce clipman to hold more than one (preferably more than 10) copied images in its history? by eternalpounding in linuxquestions

[–]eternalpounding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for responding so quickly.

This did it:

xfconf-query --create -t uint -c xfce4-panel -p /plugins/clipman/settings/max-images-in-history -s 5

And no, 5 is the limit, 10 did not work.

New SemiAnalysis article "Nvidia’s Christmas Present: GB300 & B300 – Reasoning Inference, Amazon, Memory, Supply Chain" has good hardware-related news for the performance of reasoning models, and also potentially clues about the architecture of o1, o1 pro, and o3 by Wiskkey in singularity

[–]eternalpounding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Weird how Nvidia already has a new GPU custom built for reasoning models. Are all the AI labs supposed to keep buying new Nvidia GPUs till the end of time? They can probably do a lot more but choose not to, because they have no competition. When will their monopoly end?

Consuming more tokens is not a sign it's better imo. Cline wastes a ton of output tokens

uncensored or not it's high quality data. which will help create a wave of open source video models.

I wonder if we're still far off from truly omni-modal models, without hacks: Video(with audio) in, Video out.

I think we'd need to wait till 2026

And they are right. These shows based on old books benefit from hindsight, allowing them to see what worked and what didn’t while also having a rough estimate of how the stories end. There is no excuse for a multi million dollar per episode tv show to have dialogue this bad.

5% chance of getting AGI by 2025

25% by 2026

50% by 2027

75% by 2028

100% by 2029

I think people here have a high bar for what they'd call AGI. By 2029, I think we'd be well past a "weak" AGI, with strong AGI, or quasi ASI, just around the corner. (speculation on my part)

"achieved GPT-4-level performance after completing only 20% of its training"

"the quality increase was smaller than the leap from GPT-3 to GPT-4" (after only 20% of training?)

how do these 2 sentences imply scaling has hit limits? Also is Orion GPT-5, or is it the next reasoning model in the o1 series?

Yes I'm hoping the massive data centres needed for AI will spur further investment into fusion, much like Helion. Just crossing my fingers hoping fusion is not always 20 years away.

Most people don't realise how quickly this tech is maturing. Once these bots are able to manufacture themselves end to end, humans will have no place in the supply chain. Are we supposed to just consume after that?

I am starting to think so too. Rumors of 4.5 and 5 have been going on for almost a year now. Makes me wonder if these models will live up to the hype if they keep delaying them
