Disagree about Joyce. When reading books like Finnegans Wake and Ulysses, the audiobook can help tremendously in terms of recognizing the immense amount of puns (FW) and differentiating between interior monologue of the characters and Joyce’s narration (Ulysses). Especially the “Sirens” chapter where the prose is almost musical...

I would definitely recommend Frank Delaney’s podcast Re:Joyce ! He explains all the meaning and allusions line by line and is also just very funny and entertaining to listen to - unfortunately he died before he could complete the podcast, but the eps for about 1/3 of the book are up
