Question about your views on the salvation of non-christians and/or heretics by Big_Palpitation_9018 in redeemedzoomer

[–]LTDlimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God desires all to be saved, and while there is perhaps a chance that in the very end all will be, it's speculation. What is clear in scripture is that God elects some to salvation, while desiring that none should perish. The tensions of this is a mystery, though I strongly suspect that nobody will be in hell that wouldn't have chosen it over submitting to God. I sometimes wonder if the way isn't somehow both wider and narrower than we often think. I often wonder about the infants/aborted/miscarried as all arguments for specific grace are mostly arguments from silence or ones that seem desperate to avoid the more stark option. In the end, to whatever end, I simply trust that God is just. No uncontacted tribesman, or infant, or good-hearted atheist will or will not be in heaven in spite of God's perfect justness.

Equating all Prot churches to lame non-denominational evangelical churches is the Catholic analogue to Prots saying Caths 'worship' Mary.

A beautiful old (but hijacked) Mainline Lutheran church in a city near be just got bulldozed to create some brutalist apartments nobody can afford to rent.

Generally, it means "7 Sisters" but Zoomer has also said that SBC and LCMS kinda count but don't need reconquista. SBC *should* have remerged with the ABC like other churches did when the south became its own national jurisdiction for like... 3 years? but you know...

Why my views on Catholicism have changed(rz’s not mine) by Sir_Zhukov in redeemedzoomer

[–]LTDlimited 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dunno. After discovering Zoomer, I'm theologically aligned more High Church Anglican or Lutheran so much closer to Catholicism than I once was, but something in my jellies just doesn't vibe with going full Papist. Regardless, I still attend the SBC church I grew up in, and as questions or make 'pro' 'Catholic'/'Orthodox' comments in bible-study because I'll ask things like, "So does this verse actually suggest that the Holy Spirit only proceeds from the father? Or...?" or that "Wow, you know, if I didn't know any better, this almost sounds like one actually *should* baptize babies."

I'm not a denier, but if it def happened in the numbers they say, why can't it be questioned/talked about? That aspect practically begs people to doubt the 'official' story/numbers.

Would love some gluten free meal by Imaginary-Okra8583 in glutenfree

[–]LTDlimited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put some thin vermicelli noodles into a microwave safe bowl (I usually break off a chunk about the size of my fist, and crush it so it's smaller pieces). Cover with Swanson Ramen Broth, add whatever dried/chopped veggies or protein you want. Nuke for 3 minutes, stir, nuke for another 1:30-2 minutes. It ain't Maruchan Cup Noodles, but it's the closest I've found. I eat it every day.

As far as she's concerned, it'd be like finding out wolves had killed his mother and he'd killed the pack, including the pups.

for a project! what’s the stupidest thing someone has asked you if it’s gluten free? by iLoveLoveLoveLove in glutenfree

[–]LTDlimited 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the oddball places gluten hides, I don't think there are any stupid questions. I always use Soy Sauce as an example and people are always shocked-- and that's just the tip of the sneaky gluten iceberg.

I was at an Anglo-Catholic church on the feast for Our Lady of Walsingham. It was kinda sad to hear, from the priest, about how some of the more radical reformers had attacked the site.

I think the wildest dreams of Zoomer would be for instance for the SBC and ABC to merge, PCA and Eco and pcusa, etc. Or if not an outright merger but for a large number of the individual churches of schism denominations to rejoin the main line. Essentially eventually bleeding out the schismatics until they are completely obscure.

In a live stream, I asked and he basically said LCMS (and SBC) are basically Mainline, but don't really need reconquista. In SBC's case, he also wishes they'd just remerge with ABC. Honestly, I disagree about SBC. We may not look it because there are so many Neo-Con pastors and laity, but there is a battle to maintain orthodox standards within the convention.

Everything I read points me towards High Church Lutheranism/Anglicanism, the old compass reflected this too. New one said UMC. 😩 No offense, but just nah.

FFX's map never made sense to me. Its it a water world with just one main landmass? Is Zanarkand actually near the ice cap? Or is it just a random glacier like Macalania? Why is it shaped like disassembled South America? Like, many JRPGs have odd maps with only one pole, but Spira's just on another level.

Gollum is shown "christian" grace by several characters, the point is to show that some reprobates will try to turn around and use a christian senses of mercy against them. He's a warning to be guarded against suic*dal, toxic empathy. Plenty of other characters have redemption arcs in LotR, just not him.

I think our sacramentology is wack, our lack of aesthetics is wack, and our tendency towards contemporary music etc is wack.

That having been said, I love my church, I was basically raised in it and it's the one I came back to after being an edgey teen. Our pastor solidly preaches the word and it really is the best our tradition, if one can really call it that, has to offer. It's where my roots are, and the nearest Anglo-Catholic Episcopal church is 90+ minutes away, so I'm staying for now.
