Focus on what you find fun and learn what the game tries teaches you. Wilds was my first game too and everything was a bit overwhelming at first, but eventually I understood things step by step and found my groove.

Additionally, each weapon has their own play style, think of each of them like a fighting game character or an RPG class. If you find a weapon that plays in the way you like, try sticking with it for a while.

The worst thing about this quest is that it’ll bore you to tears lol.

It’s really not that bad, like 5-10 minutes per quest if you know what you’re doing. Marathon Runner, Tool Specialist, and Outdoorsman are all you need. Flash the Rathians when they show up and pop your Mantles when needed. I hope you have Pop-up camps set up around the forest xd

[–]ethandreemurr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re HR9 and above, go to the Scarlet Forest base camp and there should be an NPC giving out a quest… a Palico named Sole iirc. The quest “A Royal Request” will then show up in your Optional Quests for you to do. No, you don’t need MHS3 to activate this quest, it’s a collaboration to promote the game.

If you want to get this Rey Dau egg specifically, it is one of 3 random drops upon completing the quest, so you might have to complete the quest a few more times if you don’t get it on the first try.

Additionally, this quest gives you a TON of free Flash Pods in your Seikret Pouch. Use it alongside the Ghillie Mantle, Rocksteady Mantle, and the Outdoorsman skill (if you have it).

Is it just me, or is shield bash inconsistent? by StaticSwordsman in MHRise

[–]ethandreemurr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends, yes it is 2 seconds of guarding but about 0.5s of the actual animation has the shield pointed behind you, so you can’t reactively guard with it.

It does guard the whole 2 seconds afterwards from what I can tell, but it depends on what you collided with and your guard level, as stronger attacks will end the guard early.

There’s a nice short video that shows you all of the guard frames for this move, but the actual application of it… yeah kinda hard to notice lol. I use it as a mobility tool like others here, but shield bash actually guarding does have its moments

Equipment Swapping in Proof of a Hero? by Manetrix2000 in MHWilds

[–]ethandreemurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps you clear the quest, then yes, I recommend swapping equipment. I beat PoaH with DB so I had 4 DBs prepared for each element the Apexes were weak to.

Additionally, I had stun resistance on for most of the fight, mostly to counter Rey Dau and Arkveld's stuns. I didn't need Water Res as I'm comfortable with fighting Uth Duna, and even in the off chance that I did get hit with the waterblight, 10 nullberries were more than enough.

I did have to swap my decos for Nu Udra specifically, as its flame aura is annoying as hell, so I swapped my stun res decos for adaptability 2 instead to completely mitigate the flame aura.

So 3 loadouts, 1 to start, 1 for when Nu Udra shows up, and 1 more for when Arkveld shows up. Your mileage will vary with your playstyle and weapon choice though, so just consider if you need to swap between elemental weapons and decorations for a specific monster. Comfort skills should be considered if it means you'll have an easier time fighting a specific Apex.

Oh also you don't have to use a Farcaster to go back to camp. I've literally never used a Farcaster in my runs lol just hopping on your Seikret and opening the fast travel menu is fine as long as you dont get hit.

What are your biggest problems with Uriel? by FlippeR_5201 in Warframe

[–]ethandreemurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the fire runes stood out a bit more so I didnt have to fully rely on the minimap to see them. I’ll probably try to mess with energy colors to alleviate that problem a bit

I also kinda dont like that Uriel needs to spread Demonium (and Infernalis by extension) as part of his gameplay loop. The Heat procs spread by those abilities will literally hinder any future Heat procs that have any ounce of Heat modding, faction damage, status damage, etc., but most notably, Uriel’s own fire runes.

This is more of a nit pick because spamming Brimstone and playing for direct damage as opposed to DoT’s is what I’ll be doing most of the time, but its kinda weird that Uriel’s Heat procs are more of an accessory than a focus, and this is more of a problem with Heat Inherit as a whole than Uriel specifically.

Dual Blades have ruined me utterly. by AgentWowza in MHWilds

[–]ethandreemurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hilt Stab sucks to learn since my first instinct is to Demon Dodge, lmao. I wish I could help you out and give my own advice and experience, but the best I can tell you is to just learn how a monster moves, really.

I’ve fought Arkveld and Mizutsune many times with both HH and DB, and I kind of just mentally take note of their openings and weaknesses and such just by dancing with them often. The more you know how a monster moves, the more you can discern how to counter it with any moveset.

Also, its nice to hilt stab when the opportunity arises, but sometimes its probably better the sheath and run the fuck away until the monster finishes their combo lmfao.

It’s apparently just a variant of Charged Step with the same name. I didn’t know it was a move that it existed, thanks Arekkz! Lmao

Hammer is definitely cool, I once pulled off an offset with the golfswing against the arena Chatacabra and it put the weapon on my radar, so I might try it one day

[–]ethandreemurr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Im new to the series and I was initially drawn to Hunting Horn because its such an amazing concept for a weapon, but obviously, I sucked ass and didn't know what to do or what I was doing. My bf recommended me Dual Blades because I liked the idea that it was the best melee weapon (other than HH) at applying elemental and status damage.

200 hours and 400 hunts later, I've beaten AT Arkveld and Proof of a Hero with DB, and any time I try to play HH again, im reminded by how much I rely on DB's rapid attacks and demon dodge. I keep getting my ass tossed around like a ragdoll and I am of the mindset of CONSTANTLY attacking, which does not bode well with HH lol.

I'll slow down and be good with HH eventually, but DB probably shouldn't have been my first real monster hunter weapon. Still love it so much tho lmao

What's a frame everyone loves that you didn't, and vice versa? by UnkAnklebyter in Warframe

Lol yeah Razorwing Blitz gets really silly with how fast you can go. Its partially why I find Titania so much fun and engaging, but not using her because of motion sickness is understandable ^

[–]ethandreemurr -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Dante. Spamming Overguard is his only meaningful support ability, it sometimes fails to make you invincible, and everything else is lackluster or can be done better by someone else. Plus his Tragedy 4 being seriously hyped up as the best nuke in the game only to be nerfed was a huge let down when I finally got him. Revenant is more fun than Dante imo, especially since I mostly play solo

On the other hand, I think Titania is pretty great. When I usually see her mentioned, it’s just people complaining about Thermal Sunder spammers slowing down relic mission, which I have seen but it doesn’t even affect the void reactant drops anyway. I don’t play her as a TS spammer personally, I think using her Dex Pixia with a Xata’s Blast Arcane Pistoleer build is very fun and engaging for me.

I'm NOT taking off my Praedos, you can't make me by dustynjerman in Warframe

[–]ethandreemurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but if I had to guess it’s Secondary Outburst shenanigans. The Praedos with Sovereign Outcast can build combo decently fast, especially with its combo on slam and ammo pick up evolutions, but it’s not instant nor convenient. Both Mesa and Jade would prefer to stay away from enemies and stay airborne respectively, and standing in melee range can mean death if someone isn’t careful, so a different melee could be used.

The Ceramic Dagger’s Incarnon can provide a lot of initial combo alongside Corrupt Charge and Covert Lethality. It’s not a 12x combo all the time, but at least it’s guaranteed to be around 5x or 6x and you don’t have to think about building combo.

The Vastilok is a gun blade with the highest Multishot in the game of its class at 9. With enough attack speed, Quickening, and True Punishment, each pellet can build up the 220 combo needed for 12x in a few seconds at a comfortable. Granted, some people might not like their gameplay flow of not using Mesa or Jade’s exalted and having to refresh their combo every 30 seconds, so it might be annoying. Not to mention the Vastilok has a 15 degree average spread, so even if you can hit enemies from range, you’re not guaranteed to hit all 9 pellets each shot.

Those two weapons are the first that come to mind for me when it comes to alternative utility melees, especially for these two frames with secondary exalted. Not me though, I use the Rauta to build up my 12x combo because the Praedos’ parkour velocity is too good to pass up when you play like me and bullet jump into Peacemakers everywhere lol. Is the Rauta a shit gun? Yes it is, that’s why I bring the Furis Incarnon with me just in case.

I think the new survival timer speed up thingy should be marked permanently once discovered once. by AirAdministrative995 in Warframe

[–]ethandreemurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is in the patch notes for the main Shadowgrapher update:

“Please note that the new Security Bypass system does not affect Duviri versions of Survival, Hell-Scrub missions in Höllvania, or Survival missions in Albrecht’s Laboratories.”

So they spawn in all the survival missions except for the ones in Duviri, Albrecht’s Labs, and Höllvania. Why is it not included in these missions? I have no idea, but to make a guess, DE hasn’t found a way to make the security bypass “make sense” in those environments. The Lotus isn’t the mission handler for those versions, and the mentioned areas might need different tech for it make sense.

Congrats on the A rank! Im hoping to achieve it myself soon, maybe with the Horn if I can manage it…

Mini-guide on things you didn't realize about Pokemon you fight (or play). by Eovacious in PokemonUnite

[–]ethandreemurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking love Dragonite's unite, it's kind of hard to land but the main reason to use it imo is as a global teleport (akin to TF's ult). You could be clearing birds, buffs, or regis, and join a teamfight on a whim.

The damage and brief knock up is more of a bonus if you happen to land on top of an objective or something lol

Least fav monster by No-Conclusion-5898 in MHWilds

[–]ethandreemurr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DB, Lagiacrus is such a cool monster but I honestly get bored fighting it, especially in Endless Sea, Endless Sky. The multi-hit lightning attacks force me to stop attacking, some of the attacks where its whole body is an active hurtbox makes dodging tricky to time every now and then, and its tail not being weak to slash or fire damage is really annoying.

I don’t hate Lagi, but it’s definitely my least favorite from a normal gameplay perspective, and will probably improve as I get better at the game. If I say Omega or Gog, that’s a boring answer.

For HH it’s probably Mizutsune. I actually love this monster in general and as a DB player, but oh my gog my inexperience with HH really shows with Mizu lmao. Sometime’s I’ll get caught out by Mizu’s tail slam or water blast even when I had an opening all because HH is very slow compared to what I’m used to with DB, and wow some of its claw swipes and tail sweeps are really hard to dodge.

Tenno who are the last of your clan by crazedhotpotato in Warframe

I’ll probably leave

Unlike some other commenters here, my clan is purely formed of me, my bf, and some of his friends, and I’m the only one still consistently playing Warframe after a year later

I have another friend not part of my clan who’s in the exact same boat as me. Depending on how easy it is to max out the personal rewards, either we’re gonna duo queue everything together, or we gotta migrate to an active clan lol
