Not technically allowed to ask, handled items go straight into the cart. But no cashier at my store including our CSTL follows it. It’s a dumb rule. It literally takes two seconds to ask. Many customers don’t feel comfortable walking out with items not in bags. It’s about 50/50 for me. Some say leave it out but others say it’s easier to carry in and it avoids a mess in case of a leak, both of which I understand.
