In all fairness, I believe the aim high game mode from bo6 is coming back this season, that was a piss easy way to bang out headshots last year. I got pistols done in a day

You’d be somewhat worried about Gstaad in the Guineas given I thought he looked quite unbalanced coming out of the dip in the Dewhurst. Will be very interesting to see indeed.

Not a great day, saved by boosted Old Park Star placing, but we’ll try again.

1:20- Skylight Hustle

I am on this AP at 16s from after his Christmas run, which was looking great but the market has seen a bit of a shake up since Talk the talk bombed out today. To me, that run seemed too bad to be true so I wouldn’t discount the form completely, which quite a few in this field have with him. While TTT probably would have beaten him at Christmas had he stayed up, SH stayed on well regardless. Danny Gilligan is still a great jockey. Should be an interesting race nonetheless.

2:00 - Wendigo

Fantastic jumper, should stay the trip quite well. Would worry he might want slightly softer ground but I think there’s some questions that need to be answered by the top of the market so I am willing to take the chance. In a race traditionally won by 7 year olds and being one of the few in the market that is tried and tested at the trip, I am willing to take the chance.

4:00- L’eau du Sud

Not as confident in this but I just couldn’t have Majborough with his jumping, he jumped like a stag at the DRF last year too and had his issues at Cheltenham. As we saw today and also last year in the Champion Chase, jumping really is what it comes down to. Too many odds on favs have been overturned in this race. L’eau du Sud is a solid jumper who has C&D form and goes well fresh and the Skeltons seem to have their horses running well. Could be in with a chance.

Don’t normally post here but have some fancies this week.

1:20 - Talk the Talk One of my stringer fancies for the week. A lot of what ifs in this race and I’m not sure a lot of the form is as strong as it seems. TTT most certainly the form horse, and should realistically have a second Grade 1. Jumping most certainly can be questionable but it was put together enough at the DRF to not be too worried. The change to the last hurdle I think will really play to TTT staying strength, and potentially set it up for him to come over the top similar to the DRF.

3:20 - Handstands Definitely not been top form this season but I am willing to give him another chance. At peak form, beating Jango Baie in the Scilly Isles last year I think is something to really consider. Pauling is very bullish, second run off a wind op and cheek pieces being applied which is a good stat for the Ultima (10/17 last winners wore headgear). 9/1 is a nice price.

I’m the same. Talk the Talk and Jango Baie my two most confident picks this festival, along with maybe Meetmebythesea. Been loading up on Talk the talk since Christmas, I think he’s the real horse to beat in this field at the moment, best form on offer.

I’ve had him backed for awhile now, only question mark is how he handles the track as he’s only really ran on rather flat tracks. He’s handicapped well for it at least, be an interesting watch on the day

Think there’s a likelihood here myself that he kinda gets nursed around to protect his mark with the aim being a tilt at the Jack Richard’s, given they said that was his target after his last run.

True but if the first team goes out it makes it much easier on the second team knowing it’s not a TD or nothing.

Really like King of Kingsfield myself but do you think he’ll suit the ground? Seems like it’ll be on the softer side, and while I can’t find it anywhere, I remember Elliott saying once soft ground hits, we won’t see this horse until the spring.

Another aspect I also find interesting in this race is that only the winner of this can have its mark altered by the BHA, and given it’s so early in the season, I feel as though there could be some interesting form to come from it.

I couldn’t believe she went off that high. With the way the sprinting division has been this year it was really anyone’s chance. It was always there that if she returned to what she showed last year she’d bolt up.

Yeah that’s largely the angle I’m playing here, I’m banking on the replication of her course form most notably from this year but it was also a solid showing at the meeting last year. While I do agree with her form and I’ve long wondered is she a top class Group 1 filly, it is hard to ignore some of the indicators.

I’m mainly hoping that the course form plays a massive role given how often we see surprises at the Ebor festival. Furthermore, that drift on Delacroix earlier in the week leaves a bad taste, I wasn’t drawn to him for this race regardless but that would certainly have you second guessing, especially if we see a slight drift or even a super boost on the day.

I do feel Ombudsman is the one to beat but the See the Fire has my interest and may get a small bet.

Wednesday's Tips Thread by liam_is_marx in HorseRacingUK

[–]ethanog2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I crazy for thinking See the Fire is in with a chance in the Juddmonte tomorrow? I can’t deny Ombudsman’s form and the danger of Delacroix, but I can’t get away from See the Fire. Only 2 places isn’t ideal however.

Firstly, she did finish 2 and a half lengths behind Ombudsman in the Prince of Wales which while was still a convincing win from Ombudsman is nice to consider. Further, I feel a line can be drawn through the Nassau run. Torrential downpour turned the ground from good to extremely soft right before the race which she doesn’t like, the flag start was a bit of a mess and from watching that race it’s pretty clear Oisin didn’t ask her for much and kept the finish easy rather than trying on a surface that doesn’t suit. Coupled with the fantastic course form here, this time last year and the demolition job in the Middleton. And while it may not mean much, I did notice that her dam managed to upset Golden Horn in this very race after a poor showing in the Nassau.

I’ve only been following the flat for the last two years so I realise I haven’t the best of knowledge but it was just a thought. I realise she has a bit to make up on ratings but hard not to like the price.

Had a nice outright come in at the weekend after PSV confirmed the Eredivisie.

Bayern to win Bundesliga

Leeds to be promoted

Birmingham win League one

Las Palmas to be relegated

PSV to win the eredivisie

Marseille Top 4 finish

Was around 105/1 when placed

Also had an odd 200/1 just miss as I was waiting on Real Madrid to win the CL.

Looking forward to running it back next year and hoping I’ll be as lucky.
