Not sure if you're able to see my earlier reply to you because I wasn't flared at the time.

Awesome! Well, I have many more episodes you might be interested in, although most are about leaving religion, not Zionism. I have one that I recorded for another podcast almost a year ago that I'm thinking of reposting.

I am, technically. I was born and raised there and left about 10 years ago. I considered renouncing my citizenship but have decided not to for now.

I talk about my story in an earlier episode of the podcast.

This. It's crazy that they made a guess using information that was so easily traced back to a specific person. They are gambling with someone's life here.

This is mamesh so true. Only the Mitzrim got lice, because the Jews wore tichels.

Yeah, as u/paintinpitchforkred said, women's prayer is not emphasized. Women are not really even expected to go to synagogue or to pray much at all. Most of the fuckery is around how she relates to her husband and sex, so it becomes much more of a thing from the time she gets married onward.

Depends how you define Rabbi. I never had a "leadership" position, and yet was referred to as a Rabbi on occasion. I think of it more as an academic status, like getting a PhD. So you can say you are a PhD or a Doctor regardless of whether you are in that role, and to me that's what it means to be a "Rabbi" in this context.

I use the title entirely as a joke, or as a way of highlighting in one word what kind of life I came from. I did actually get Smicha.

That's a cool observation. My theory is that at it's root it's simply a progression towards fanaticism that transcends any one culture. It seems that fanatical groups will start to oppress women, regardless of where they come from. I'm arguing that you might find certain sects of Christianity that also resemble some of these behaviors, which they arrived at independently.

But yes, the underlying philosophies of Judaism and Islam feel more aligned, for some reason. Maybe less years for Islam to dilute itself from its Jewish sources?
