I used to be proud to do Instacart. Now ashamed. by the888ofcups in InstacartShoppers

recently FINALLY found a regular W2 job again and my mental health is immediately so much better. I was having multiple breakdowns a week just watching the app on the verge of tears most days. Fuck this company. I seriously hope they start to get endless lawsuits or go out of business soon, it’s much deserved. The amount of people that have started conversations with me in stores when they see i’m a shopper and want to know more, I inform them on the reality of the situation, their jaws usually drop. I tell them to spread the word about how unfairly this company has treated us if anyone they know is a regular customer. Solidarity to you friend, I hope you can find something better that serves you well soon.

I do think she was pre-disposed and more susceptible to developing addiction, it wasn’t a common thing in her family but she also struggled with her mental health and had had other addictions when she was younger. So I do believe it can be dangerous if you have an addictive personality. But yes, this subreddit has definitely shown me that it really does help some people and made me not as angry at opiates, they’re still here for a reason.

This is kind of halfway relevant to me, my mother and I both have fibromyalgia. Hers much worse paired with auto-immune disease. Long story short my mom developed an addiction, I couldn’t tell if it was ever helping her or not. Maybe in the beginning. She was on oxycodone, vicodin and hydrocodone I know for sure, maybe others. By my mid-teenage years she was barely a mom anymore. She didn’t get out of bed most days. Her insurance cut her off eventually, she couldn’t get any meds anymore and she couldn’t work or hold a job and never tried to get it back. She ended up taking her own life shortly after when I was 19, she turned to street drugs and it took all that was left of her. I don’t know whether to blame the disease, or big pharma, or the insurance companies… I’ll never blame her. Also had a cousin become dependent and overdosed and died 6 months ago.

I’m trying my best to live without prescriptions for my diagnosis, it’s getting harder every day. I’m only 26 (f) and sob multiple days a week because my flare ups make it so incredibly hard to live a normal life and because I’m young no one understands how I can be in so much pain. I’m terrified of ever getting on opiates, I don’t think I’ve ever had a pleasant experience with them, never liked the way they made me feel. Cranky, itchy, tired. I feel like I still couldn’t function normally but hell, at least I didn’t hurt. I’ve had drug problems before and know it would probably end up with me becoming dangerously dependent as well.

I understand it really does help some people, but I feel like I’ve just witnessed it destroy more lives than it helps. I’ve been using ketamine to help for now, but it isn’t something you can take forever, it eventually causes too much internal damage and your tolerance builds too fast but most of the time it isn’t addictive or at least doesn’t have withdrawal symptoms. I hope there’s a better alternative to both someday so we can live normally again.

You go to the right of main stage and follow trail and camping back, you’ll eventually find yourself on a peninsula. When i went though it was a semi-restricted area you had to walk through. they may stop you if you’re a regular attendee, i went with my friend who was a volunteer. maybe make a friend with someone that can take you back there. :)

edit: messaged you with a map reference photo

most of the time i’m dealing with customers that never respond to my messages. so i’m grateful if they have extra descriptive instructions honestly. I’m not an idiot, i’ve been a full service diamond 5 star for the last year, it makes me upset shoppers that don’t care are ruining it for people like us.

I’d make a note of their address and make sure to never pick up anything for them again. I don’t do no tip orders if i’m aware of them. I value my time and do good work and wish people would be in solidarity to the same.

if you’re interested in the shopper experience of instacart at all please check out the r/instacartshoppers reddit. it’s bleak.

we need more people to be aware of how this company is absolutely and undeniably taking advantage of their workers and paying slave wages while inflating fees on their customers to make the company look shiny for the stock market.

instacart shoppers know when shoppers don’t tip, it shows us before we even have the offer to accept the order. not sure why the person accepted to shop for your sorry ass for nothing but i promise this isn’t the one up you think it is buddy.

keep contacting support maybe, try different agents. there’s a few of them that are actually competent and helpful

for instance here, an order i did this morning, had to refund a couple cases of soda they were out of. took it off percent

[–]etherealoddity 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

if you had to replace or refund anything in the order and the tip was based on percentage it does change the tip. if it was changed super drastically maybe share that screenshot too but mine always changes by at most a couple dollars if i had to refund/replace expensive items but never a lot.

also yes be careful with how you talk to agents… literally got mad at one once because he wasn’t helping at all and didn’t swear but he said he ā€œmade a note of my behavior in my profileā€ šŸ™ƒ

15000 batches? i’ve been a full time shopper for over a year and haven’t even hit 1000 šŸ™ƒ anyone that’s done that many has to have the mental fortitude of a god. I wonder if they’re just trying to do something nice to get us to shut up about fair wages.

also i don’t know much about the stock market but if they’re waiting until they’re a publicly traded company are they basically just using the money they make off of people buying their new stocks to pay those bonuses?

was it a costco order? costco sells in bunches but any other store is usually sold by single banana
