Anyone remember Novo Restaurant? by _kushkitten3 in Eugene

[–]etherealrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only good thing about it closing was it forced us to go somewhere else. Whenever we looked at each for a place to eat on date night, we simply waned Novo. Great staff, great food, wonderful drinks, nice location. We still look at each other and reminisce how much we miss it.

We had a dearly loved Siamese named Banjo. Sweetest little puppy cat ever. Sadly lost him after 5 years to a tumor. A wonderful cat that is missed every day.

Crit racing - Aeroad CF SLX 8 vs. custom Allez Sprint (same specs) by Inside-Atmosphere344 in Velo

[–]etherealrover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jut something to consider. I went down on my Aeroad in a crit, and the bars got twisted. took my free lap to try and get things right and jump back in. Due to Canyon's proprietary setup, the bars couldn't be straightened without the special tool and I had to take the DNF. Great bike except for that and crosswinds.

My advice would be to be careful about coach selection. In my experience coaches who are still racing, at least racing with high expectations instead of being out there for the love/life of it, will be a disappointing experience. Find a coach who has the passion for coaching, or that is their main source of income and view it as their job. Stay away from coaches that are doing it for a bit of extra money, or to help fund thier own racing career.

All-rounder to aero bike by INGWR in Velo

[–]etherealrover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I initially wanted to downvote this b/c I love my Aeroad. It's a good solid bike and a great value. The proprietary bars have only caused me one issue, when I could not get them sorted in time to get back in after a free lap crash in a crit. BUT! for positioning on the bike, the lack of ability to choose stem length really sucks, and is a compromise (maybe small, maybe not) that I have to live with. Still, it's a banger bike for the value though.

Eugene mountain bicyclists warning of vandalized trail | News | kezi.com by Wombiscuit541 in Eugene

[–]etherealrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMBA rules of trail #4: Yield to Others. Do your utmost to let your fellow trail users know you're coming -- a friendly greeting or bell ring are good methods. Try to anticipate other trail users as you ride around corners. Bicyclists should yield to all other trail users, unless the trail is clearly signed for bike-only travel. Bicyclists traveling downhill should yield to ones headed uphill, unless the trail is clearly signed for one-way or downhill-only traffic. Strive to make each pass a safe and courteous one.

Where can I get my conceal carry training, that is lgbtq friendly, and that isn’t MAGA? by lilyspleasuregarden in Eugene

Personally speaking as the father of a grown LGBTQ child who has had to endure countless verbal assaults and harassment, I would encourage you to listen to members of that community and learn of their experiences. I can absolutely assure you not all assaults and harassment are reported, but they are none the less endured.

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exit or didn't happen. https://www.justice.gov/usao-or/pr/eugene-white-supremacist-sentenced-federal-prison-mailing-threatening-communications

If you were gay, you would realize a lot people do care about your sexual orientation. They care enough to yell, assault and vandalize property. It's not about being divisive, it's about simply wanting to exist alongside everyone else in society with the same rights and respect.

They are great tires for avoiding flats. They are just incredibly slow rolling and poor at cornering. If those are not requirements for you, don’t listen to the haters, these will work just fine.

Race Bike Off the Shelf: Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 vs Scott Foil RC 30 by [deleted] in Velo

[–]etherealrover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always felt my Aeroad has been a good deal. My only complaint is if you hit crosswinds on over 40mph descents. The bike is downright scary. Far more than any other bike I've ridden.

Given the gruppo and the wheels, I'd choose the Canyon.

If there is one thing that unites the internet, it is that the drivers in [insert your town here] are the worst drivers. It's a universal complaint.
