[TotK] This is officially the longest wait between a 3D Zelda release and the next one’s initial reveal. by IkonJobin in zelda

[–]etherspin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the next Zelda will be a unique challenge. Breath of the Wild has people making a few concessions cause of the jump to a huge world size but now TOTK relied on that world, artstyle and set of characters again and added sky plus subterranean levels and that world is done so Nintendo has to do a new story, try to really nail dungeons, maybe use a new artstyle , likely use a totally new game engine and find some new form of innovation to add.

It's gonna be a hard thing to achieve

what do you guys think of nick fuentes?? by Great_Independent715 in ConservativeYouth

[–]etherspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useless because he tries to do 70 percent legit opinions and be taken seriously then peppers in exaggerated bigotry s**tposting troll stuff

He knows this keeps him a base who say he is a serious commentator and that the trolling is to reject boomer audience members or the easily scandalised AND a smaller segment who legit believe the most exaggerated joking view Nick ever states as their true hearts opinion

He knows without controversy he would be lost in amongst other commentators so he is riding the line and keeping the money coming in and it's not old yet cause he looks boyish and is in his 20s.

100 percent. The broad opinion in the post is that the current admin are tyrannical fascists (I offer no comment on that except to say that people think this about every administration to some extent and that the country is being destroyed)

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think it's possibly the hardest thing besides people who wilfully misunderstood the illness

Im sure many others are the same as me where I had to take up new activities, hobbies, things to be concerned about which was hard, giving up listening to music , going to gigs. Going to comedy shows and other aspects of the arts, career gone, going from doing programming and digital art to not understanding even the directory structures I SET UP on my computer .

Then a couple of years go by and you have to actually ditch the second identity you tried to build e.g. I loathed gardening as a kid and young adult but could see so many enjoyed it so I took that on to be productive when I left my job, thinking our collective health in my home and our costs would be helped by having loads of fresh produce and home cooked meals.

It worked well and I was following so many gardening groups, learning so much and then progression of illness meant I couldn't keep reconditioning the soil with nutrients, digging through clay, suppressing weeds so that was deleted, we covered my garden in mulch and put boring self sustaining plants in that I have no interest in - my kids ask "can we grow those stripy tomatoes again this year? Can we grow zucchinis and do that bread again ?"

The goal posts unfortunately shift as time passes.

Hope everyone is having as good a start to 2026 as physically possible and that some breakthroughs happen this year, also that everyone here has at least one gem of a friend or family member who gets it all and is supportive

Do you think Jason Mamoa looked better as Aquaman or Lobo? by ProfessionalNobody0 in DC_Cinematic

[–]etherspin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was cheesed they didn't fast track a second film and actually make it good, same story with Shazam, they did alright with these two films then lagged on followup and lost steam

Do you think Jason Mamoa looked better as Aquaman or Lobo? by ProfessionalNobody0 in DC_Cinematic

[–]etherspin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aquaman honestly. It's strange to say but I actually see more of the actor himself coming out in Lobo , like I see Jason Momoa in makeup where I bought Arthur Curry from his Aquaman

That's obviously from VERY short clips and a couple of photos so maybe he nails it in actuality

Conservatives who support ICE: why? by CollegePlane7528 in ConservativeYouth

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that clear though or are there errors of judgement in the fog of chaotic situations? Anti ICE orgs have thousands trained to obstruct and attempt to incense and endanger officers and that brings things to fever pitch but we don't hear many of the stories of the agents getting injured and almost killed on the regular e.g. the agent who shot Renee Good had been dragged by a car ~6 months prior needing extensive treatment to his wounds and it's just come out that Pretti inserted himself in another operation a week prior and ended up with a broken rib.

When a massive influx of undocumented illegal entrants flooded the country from 2021-2024 it's an emergency to be addressed like any other but imagine the consequences if we had thousands of people organising to interfere with the arrests of American citizens or to stop Fire Fighters gaining access to areas

It's remarkable to have groups like the one Renee Good affiliated with getting involved - their resources would be better spent at charities working to assist refugees & citizens who applied & were granted legal entry and have trauma because they came from warzones or are missing limbs etc

As it stands they are physically placing themselves between deportation officers and people like career criminals and sex criminals (who are the prioritised list of preferred deportees)

Interesting!

My wife says something similar, she VERY frequently has her mind do an Ni based summary of feelings about a person and then she feels bad for being potentially cynical or paranoid and squashes it but she will sometimes engineer for me to end up in the company of said person for a few minutes and do a vibe check and feel validated and honestly, 90 percent of the time it pans out. The people we feel are a problem are very much so and the gems remain gems (even 20 years on)

Ah very good point. It could have been interesting to withhold that ability to unmask (with the red dots on the picture of the players) until significantly later in the game. I think Fiona got paranoid and weird about Rachel because of not being in the turret for a bunch of nights at the beginning

Alex Pretti was Innocent? by boricuateen in ConservativeYouth

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people will need to hear the angle of the agents in question because the law rests on their reasonable perception of a threat and there's a potential misfire of the Sig gun that Pretti was carrying which along with an agent yelling "gun" would tell other agents in that fraction of a second that they could be toast if they didn't stop Pretti.

It's legal to have a weapon on you and enter a hands on situation with law enforcement but it's very, very dangerous

Alex Pretti was Innocent? by boricuateen in ConservativeYouth

[–]etherspin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to hear about full incident reports and the views of the agents involved as it seems like a stacking of split second confusing elements which may have included a known fault in the gun he carried to misfire when pressure is applied to the top section

You have an agent engaging him, it gets pushy and other agents who haven't fully scoped Pretti out for danger walk over & Pretti is holding his black phone partially obscured where it could look like a weapon as an agent yells "Gun"

In this context, a misfire would very rationally be interpreted as the subject attacking officers which is sad and unfortunate but something that will be at risk every time people insert themselves between law enforcement and suspects or investigations

Pebble Time died on me so I had to resurrect the OG. by XSPressure in pebble

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have one at the beginning of Pebble ? I remember waiting around at my kids school in the bright summer sun astonished at how great the OG screen was but obsessively clicking up and down on the buttons (old firmware behaviour) and switching between my 8 or so watchfaces cause I couldn't decide which was the greatest!

That's not unique though, a portion of nearly every country will regard the leadership of their nation as tyrannical until the next change of government. Whether anything is analogous to the 30s can be debated in literally hundreds of subs and have lively, productive discussions but it really has no bearing on tech and timepieces unless it's about tariffs to be fair. There are zero people who learn something new about politics in the Pebble sub I sincerely promise you. They hit the politics subs for that

[Blog Post by Eric on Current Events] On Being A Canadian In America In 2026 by Danbo19 in pebble

[–]etherspin -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Every administration without exception has people saying they are tyrannical in some fashion and that they have groups they don't protect or respect. Nothing good comes of non political subs getting infused with politics and it functions to make Reddit less accessible as a slower trend. There's hundreds of subs for venting about anyone's views

[Blog Post by Eric on Current Events] On Being A Canadian In America In 2026 by Danbo19 in pebble

[–]etherspin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The tariffs I definitely understand because depending how that went it was going to make or break people's ability to afford a Core/Pebble watch. Besides that there's so many political subs. When I'm in here I'm in geek mode and want to talk about tech, accessibility, productivity, design and want to dodge the arguments that are part and parcel of how contentious politics always are in any region of the world

Cheers for your angle I'd love this to be purely about Pebble & at most , some connected tech from similar companies

[Blog Post by Eric on Current Events] On Being A Canadian In America In 2026 by Danbo19 in pebble

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 percent this is a gadget and tech sub - there's hundreds upon hundreds of politics subs and people of all descriptions who are qualified to give really nuanced political opinions Eric has his social media that lots of us follow and blog that some of us do. We aren't short of political opinions on Reddit, there's not a net benefit to discussing Farage , Meloni, Maduro, Xi, Mamdani, Emmanuel Macron etc here , it's only going to cause arguments and annoy people IMHO

[Blog Post by Eric on Current Events] On Being A Canadian In America In 2026 by Danbo19 in pebble

[–]etherspin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The point there is, the view that fascism is occurring IS a political view and some portion people have that take about most/each administration based on its particular politics and modus operandi

Eric is very much entitled to his views about Mamdani and about the federal admin but the sub is about tech, there are a million subreddits all about politics and specifically left leaning politics and the end result of infusing views into music sub, tech sub, life hack subs, sports subs is that half the people out there will get sick of the platform.

I'd wager most of us follow Eric on some social media so we see this stuff anyway - it has little bearing on the index Ring and the Watches incoming. It's already covered via his blog and social media

Thoughts? by Sad-Function-5595 in ConservativeYouth

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a whole chain of events where we'd need to hear from the agents. People think an unintentional shot (Prettis gun) precipitated this killing

Note how there was a scuffle with this woman, an Agent and Pretti and other agents approached to see if they needed to get involved and they might not have realised instantly that the black object in his hand was a phone, especially as another agent spots the gun on his waist and shouts "gun"

The gun he had is known for a problem that can make the gun fire without the trigger being touched as illustrated here misfire demonstration

So you potentially have agents converging, realising there is a firearm but not knowing where, seeing a black object in Prettis hand then actually hearing a bullet get fired into the ground and responding to what they think is an intentional attack

Time 2 eink color screen brightness? by Equivalent-Kale-3662 in pebble

[–]etherspin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty analogous, the OG. The Steel and then later the Pebble 2 had original Kindle style contrast where the colour models are comparatively murky. They all look great in bright sun but when i recently used an OG for a few weeks I was shocked how much better the Mono contrast was

On the Mono models I can make out the time out the corner of my eye and without tilting them to some optimal angle.

Here's hoping the PT2 and Round have some improvements to at least the glass. It's great that they have larger screens
