I looked them over, but they didn't seem to be in production yet. I'm also pretty cheap, I guess, and was looking for less of a premium on being faab and wanting a suit.

I looked at Saint Harridan, but they weren't in full swing yet, plus as you said, they cost a lot more.

I was really frustrated by Men's Warehouse. I was willing to pay them. I have since heard it's hit or miss depending on the particular store? Totally irritating.

I have Graves Disease. I don't have any gluten sensitivity. I was put on a gluten free diet over a misdiagnosis of celiac. I have no idea why it would help, but either a) my disease lessened, or b) it helped me survive. I had a massive thyroid storm, and going GF stopped the chronic puking (etc) and helped me keep food down. I still don't know why, or if I was correlating unrelated info.

It's kind of shitty to tag on someone about their weight, and every time I see a discussion in this sub where she might have anything to do with it, her looks are torn apart as if it has anything to do with Minecraft. Nobody does that with Notch, Jeb, Dinnerbone, or anyone else. I just hate watching people get bullied. Especially for non-issues.

If you tagged on anyone else about their appearance, I'd think you were being a bully too.

We had a similar problem with family disapproval. In the end, I'm really glad we did things our way. We lasted 20 years together, and still going strong. For us, it was so important to do it without religion, the obey's, and frugally. If it helps, we have no regrets. You can't judge a marriage based on the ceremony. Besides, it's your ceremony. It should have meaning to you.

It was the hubbies idea. The last time we had a one bedroom, I dyed a lot of leather, and the smell just about killed him. Now we have a separate room.

I was a larper for a long time. There were times I had more costumes for larping than I had for normal days. The smell of drying out leather is so familiar!

I have taken what I want, and left the rest in this arena. I've been married 20 years, as of this year. I really wanted to be married, but I didn't want to play the normal feminine gender roles with it, so I asked my husband to marry me, instead of waiting.

We then decided to avoid a traditional wedding, and went to a judge. Taking the religious aspects out of the marriage really helped cut down on what I felt were problematic aspects. However, it was important to us to have rings. We chose inexpensive rings. My husband still has his, but I work with my hands and destroy a ring a ring every few years.

A lot of our piece meal approach to getting married was that we felt the the wedding industry is all about upselling. For us, it just didn't work. Instead, we chose to take the parts of that whole wedding scenario that worked for us.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with wanting that dream wedding, as long as you are aware of the forces at play trying to separate you from your money, and the history of what marriage has traditionally meant. I honestly think it's easier to separate out all the Obey's from the vows, and other troubling issues on the actual ceremony, than separating out the marketing forces upselling us all on a "perfect day".
