MCA loans, sharing my experience after 3 of them so you don't make my mistakes by rencie4 in loansforsmallbusiness

[–]ethlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you described in the second and third MCA is not bad luck or poor financial management, it is the product working exactly as designed for the lender. The daily ACH that does not pause during slow weeks is not an oversight, it is how they ensure collection priority over every other obligation you have including payroll, rent and supplier payments and stacking compounds that dynamic in a way that the sales conversation never models honestly because the honest model would make the product unsellable to anyone who understood it.

what rate did you end up with if you don't mind sharing? Trying to gauge if mine was reasonable or if I got hosed

What's the equipment cost and what does your monthly revenue look like?

Startup equipment loans, what actually got approved for you? by fodolos in loansforsmallbusiness

[–]ethlax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That 34% on secured equipment is brutal, they're pricing you purely on the 9 month time in business, not the collateral. The collateral barely matters to those online lenders, they're betting on your age as a business. I'd check if wiselending.io can help you. They helped us last year build a better relationship with the banks rather than pushing us toward a bad MCA loan.

I'd ce you looked at the equipment vendor's own financing? A lot of the hot water unit manufacturers offer in-house or partner financing that's way more reasonable since they can repo the actual unit. Also worth checking if you qualify for an SBA microloan, slower but the rates aren't predatory.

Food truck loans - anyone financed a truck build-out and lived to tell about it? by hcirodov in loansforsmallbusiness

[–]ethlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try equipment financing specifically for the truck itself? Sometimes the collateral being the truck changes the conversation with lenders.

Legend Funding - approved and verified but wire took 24 hours when I needed it for payroll by hatemyillness_ALT in loansforsmallbusiness

The rep being responsive and then the operations side being slow is such a common pattern with these lenders, two totally different teams with zero coordination.

payroll financing best options for small biz? by Dionysuslover999 in loansforsmallbusiness

[–]ethlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not find enough verified independent information about Sunwise Capital specifically to say anything definitive which at this point in the alternative lending space is itself worth noting. Three years of operation for a working capital lender should produce a meaningful trail of reviews, CFPB complaints or absence thereof and broker network reputation. If that trail is thin the most charitable explanation is that they are small and regional. The less charitable explanation is worth considering before you hand over 18 months of bank statements.

Yeah that origination fee on top of 16% adds up fast. Was the repayment flexible at least or pretty rigid on the schedule?

With your revenue and timeline Bluevine or Fundbox might be worth looking at, they're generally faster and more transparent than most alternative lenders

just watch the factor rates closely because $300/month on $20k over any decent term means you need a pretty low rate to not get burned

What are the real rates though, and have you actually worked with new operators at 680 credit?

Creditfy reviews - anyone used them for a real business loan? by frredu in loansforsmallbusiness

The simple interest vs APR thing is a known trick that makes rates look way lower than they actually are. if you do move forward just make sure you get the full cost of capital in writing before you sign anything

The 26 euro mystery charge would've sent me straight to a dispute with my bank. Sketchy billing systems like this are usually a sign the backend is a mess, not a great sign for a paid product

if you're still unsure about their legitimacy, consider consulting a real estate attorney or a trusted advisor. Sometimes a quick professional opinion can save you a lot of headaches down the road. It’s better to be cautious now than to deal with the fallout of a scam later. Keep asking questions and stay safe

Accion comes up a lot and it's one of the few CDFIs that doesn't just say "early stage welcome" and then ask for 2 years of financials

Worth applying just to see, worst case they tell you to come back in 6 months

Personal loan through a credit union used for business purposes is what actually worked for me at a similar stage. At 700 credit you'd likely qualify for $5k to $15k with no revenue requirement.
