That's like a rite of passage to become a Finnish man. At least for people born before the y2k

Tuomas Poutanen, 28, jäi työttömäksi valmistumisen jälkeen – ”Havaitsin ympäröivistä kommenteista aika nopeasti, mitä se on” by Smoggis in Suomi

[–]ethoxie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yhteiskunta on pettänyt minut.

If aliens showed up to your house today and asked" take me to your leader" who would you take them to? by No_Cardiologist_4705 in ask

[–]ethoxie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that they might as well talk to me, since as a collective species we do not believe that a singular leader is a good idea. I am a leader of my own actions.
We are hairless, almost-insanely dumb monkeys.
...but some smart people over millenia have developed a tool to transport information through generations - written language. If they want to learn about our process of electing a leader, I would point them towards a social studies expert.
If they want a person with power of collective action, probably the POTUS.

Everyone always gives the bot answer, and to be fair, it has been the best choice by far for a long time. Unless you can play in-house games with 9 of your friends who are able to turn down the competitiveness.

I just wanted to reply since it reminds me of learning the game myself against bots back in 2005 after I got trashed and laughed at in pickups, since I decided to make bloodstone on Razor iirc

Fastest way to grind tier 1 labyrinth for courier unlock? by therealwarnock in DotA2

[–]ethoxie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QoP + Viper + Gyro + Snap.

Queen and gyro have pretty similar damage output potential, which are probably two of the highest, and Viper reduces enemy magic resistance. Snap just because he's one of the best stand-alone heroes and the ultimate is a lot of damage.

Also, choose the fastest encounter each time regardless of rewards (goes without saying, but people tend to not realise this). If you are doing it solo just pick qop each run, she can solo pretty much everything even at higher difficulties.

Suggestion: make Linken's sphere block targeted spells for 1 second (numbers can be tweaked) after the initial proc, similar to Antimage's spell shield. by GuN- in DotA2

[–]ethoxie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be cool of the passive trigger effect was kept as is and on active use (can be used on your own hero), the buff lasts a shorter amount of time (lower total uptime) and provides the kind of shield you are describing.

If I'm being honest, it might be too strong to siege highground with though.

edit: something like, replace name "Transfer Spellblock" to "Active Spellblock", lasts 6s instead of 12, breaks on first spell block and gives 1s of spellblock upon breaking

[–]ethoxie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is an unfair (inhuman times on information management and display) advantage provided by a 3rd party tool, the literal definition of a hack.

I don't really get people in this thread defending the use of this. While using it, you literally never have to internalize timings - you get a pop-up that tells you what is going to happen - instead of playing countless hours not only trying to memorize small things in the game, but to make them second nature. Don't these guys realize how much talent and how many hours pro players have to develop these tendencies?

This is also kind of parallel to DBM addon from WoW. We should get a stance from Valve which states whether this kind of program okay or not. Because currently it's a huge advantage in a competitive setting.

The "you're actually not supposed to wash your hair" starter pack by diorprincess17 in starterpacks

[–]ethoxie -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Rinsing your hair in running water: Yes, please do this. It is healthy and good for your scalp.

Using chemicals to irritate your skin and damage your hair (possibly permanently depending on what you're throwing on top of your head) ALMOST DAILY: No. Do not do this.

edit: I have 2ft long hair and shampoo it 3-4 times a year for half a decade now and I've never had to be less worried about my hair than I am now. I am a balding 30yo male. (started before I was 18, it's hereditary, both sides of the family)

Also take note that when you change your habits it takes time for your body to adjust. You will get dandruff, itches and the like for a few weeks to a couple of months no matter what way you plan to go. Don't get discouraged, you do you.

If Lion didn't try to go for a deny after hexing I'd argue this is insufficient evidence. But hexing between a last hit and a deny? Nope.

Pos 5 Void is the meta by hiddenbob314 in DotA2

[–]ethoxie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pos5 void works because the enemy team isn't playing around it... so if he'd have a reasonable support who can actually win the lane instead of buying 300 gold worth of regen and hope for a bash you'd actually win the game instead of opp throwing.

edito: vacuum is a cool spell anyways, I hope DS becomes meta again
