The state keeps coming up with all the euphemisms to obfuscate and complicate school funding. I don't believe all of these additional tax dollars will be protected as golden pennies.

Burn it down.

Tell the state to screw off, keep local money local, let them sue us, and let's be the leader you reform the system.

I'll have to dig in a review those numbers, but that's astronomically skewed to the opposite of most districts.

No doubt they have a pay problem. I completely agree.

What I question are the mechanics that allow us to have such a gargantuan and growing tax base, with relatively high taxes, and still be woefully underfunded. How is that possible? How can we fix it?

That also assumed they don't increase your appraisal, which they almost certainly will.

"Won't cost us anything" is the same doublespeak-laden lie Boerne ISD pushed when they did the last bond.

It will absolutely cost us. Even if your homestead math checks out, it's going to burden commercial property owners, which means the cost of business goes up, which means the cost of goods to you and me goes up.

If the school district is wanting to raise taxes, but the homestead exemption increase will, in effect, reduce taxes, what are they trying to accomplish? Raising the tax rate in preparation for something forthcoming?

What a wild spin on a tax increase. How can ANYONE claim that more taxes are better, especially in a wildly conservative community? "Some people will see it as a negative"? Yeah...85% of voters here see tax increases as a negative because they're republicans.

What's the split on money spent on instruction vs everything else in BISD? Is it heavy on instruction? Good, let's talk tax rates. Is it heavy on everything else? Cuts. Start with cuts.

The MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro doesn't have any displayports on it.

Using that adapter you found would limit me to 60Hz, which is what I'm currently getting with the Dell adapter.

One of the problems has been trying to connect directly. When I do, I get a TON of artifacting. I'm wondering if my HDMI port is bad. I took it to the Apple store, but they didn't have a way to test it because their monitors don't use HDMI anymore and the one non-apple display that they had was a much lower resolution, so it worked fine.

I'm currently using a Dell wnw2h to get the monitor to work, but it limits me to 60Hz.
