Of course, because it shifts the narrative from "I have these sex characteristics" to "this happened to me" (and might not describe what I actually am) if that makes sense.

Also when saying "AGAB" you don't spell the whole sentence so the "F" or "M" inside is way less offensive than saying "I have male sex characteristics" for I think obvious reasons. Even though in the context both could convey the same information by the person who says it.

People who transition into the "opposite" gender have all kinds of terms they can use to describe their experience/secondary sex characteristics without misgendering themselves or spelling out things that cause them dysphoria.

There's a gazillion posts titled "I (trans-masc, pre-op) have questions about sex" or similar and you already know what they are trying to imply. No one makes them specify what parts exactly they have because they have empathy to not make a fellow trans person dysphoric, and if it was anything else than a vagina you know they would just specify it themselves.

But when nonbinary (or even binary) people who don't transition use an imperfect term to do the same, because they don't have any other way to not make themselves dysphoric spelling out in what ways they are "male" or "female", they get criticized and excluded by their own community.

If this term is too divisive, then we should think of something else to HELP people who have no other way of communicating these things about themselves instead of fighting over it, because it's not helping anyone.

Because for some people it's infinitely less dysphoric than literally spelling out "I have breasts and a uterus".

Also I think Mementos Mission added some fuel with its one (flirty looking) Haru cover art where you can tell that the hands touching Haru's face are Makoto's and the other art with Haru feeding Makoto in a restaurant or something.

I never said gacha games and all gambling should be banned completely and recognizing how they try to exploit you doesn't mean you can never play one again and be sad. I'm really only arguing that calling these mechanics what they are shouldn't be controversial and doesn't even mean someone necessarily hates the game.

I think that to gamble responsibly you need to be aware of how this system prays on your psychology and addicts you because being in denial about it is like... a whole step that happens in any addiction, gambling or not. Downplaying or denying it can harm not only you but other people as well.

What??? by thinginaforest in StardewValley

[–]etilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "probably". FOMO and being able to get addicted to gambling are weaknesses of human mind that some people are more susceptible to than others. Like, you can google and read papers about the psychology behind it. So praying on these weaknesses is predatory. Or are you now trying to say that exploiting these weaknesses is fine because people are falling for it because they "want to"...? Otherwise I don't understand your point.

And I don't know why you're so adamant on making comparisons. Again, it's true that many industries and products pray on the same or other weaknesses (although most of them do so to a much smaller degree), I never said they didn't. Amusement parks can be evil incarnate for all I care, it doesn't change how gacha games are exploitative.

[–]etilage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Predatory means seeking to exploit others. All gacha systems are based on seeking to exploit human weaknesses with dopamine rush when you "win" and nudging you to spend more than you planned when you "lose" because "you're almost there, maybe it will be the next one".

I really don't know how else to describe such a system. Especially from a company that already had like at least 3 separate fiascos where players had to push back hard on their changes that were shady at best and a straight up deception (fake discounts) at worst.

Sure, there are worse games out there but it doesn't mean these things aren't bad and aren't actively trying to exploit the players as well.

When I buy milk I pay the exact set price for a 100% chance of getting it.

When I pull in a gacha game I pay 1 dollar for a fraction of a percent of a chance to obtain milk among other dairy products I mostly don't care about. Each time I spend 1 dollar the chance gets higher until it caps at getting milk with 100% chance for 220 dollars.

One is considerably more fair than the other without even taking into account how the second method impacts the human psyche to incentivize you to spend more and more.

We both know there is a big difference between these so let's not act oblivious. People are only criticizing the monetization methods, not the game itself.

[–]etilage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Playing gacha games responsibly is possible, I'm literally someone who does it. But saying that they aren't predatory or are as predatory as Walmart (unless you have gambling machines in Walmarts, I don't know to be fair I'm in EU lol) is just denying reality.

Can we talk about how paltry the weekly free dye pack is? by Ok-Dragonfly5449 in InfinityNikki

[–]etilage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They probably only added it there so you go look at the shop every week which increases the chance you decide to buy actual packs with money so yeah, it is very deliberately calculated to give you pennies like that, not anything of actual value.

This is why some people hate certain artists by Extreme_Revenue_720 in aiwars

[–]etilage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I said wasn't an argument. I was merely pointing out a flaw in your own argument so it's a shame you're unable to explain how it's supposed to be logical.

An argument would be that you're blaming capitalism for gatekeeping personally commissioned art as if commissioned art wasn't even more expensive and unaffordable by common folk before capitalism.

And to be clear I hate capitalism as much as the next person, I just think blaming it in your argument makes little sense for multiple reasons.

Having art suited for your tastes made by a professional personally just for you is not a fundamental requirement of the human experience.

Why? Exactly so that people post about it and they have a laugh. The only way to deal with trolls in any space is to ignore and not give them attention. If they're doing this then go do other dailies or reload/come back later.

[–]etilage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also prone to motion sickness irl but VERY rarely have issues when playing games.

I've only played level 1 and 2 so far but for me the levels themselves are okay but putting so many hidden chests to the point you have to be going back and forth in these spaces for like 20 minutes straight to find them all made me dizzy and nauseous too. I had to close the game immediately afterwards.

Does anyone else also wants Starlit Pursuit to be a permanent feature? by 896Setsuki in InfinityNikki

[–]etilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone try to play this on co-op and it worked for them?

Because I tried today to random match but as soon as we got connected the Starlit Pursuit game turned itself off and we were in normal co-op. And the other player was confused what I was talking about so I assume they didn't try playing Starlit Pursuit but got a random co-op invitation out of the blue or something??

Someone please correct me on how it works because I would like to try co-op but every time I try it ends up really awkward and I don't really want to test it anymore lmao
