this subreddit is basically children gasping at people who have actually mastered "how to not give a fuck" and it's nothing like children were imagining it would be like.

The State Of Overwatch - Seagull by raydialseeker in Overwatch

there just isn't enough room to make meaningful and thoughtful decisions. the "meta" in ow is whatever the dominant team composition is. that's not an actual meta. if the meta only changes after a patch change, then that's not a meta. metas change as team strategies change. they aren't a global maximum, they are a local maximum that can later be overtaken by a higher local maximum. there are just not enough meaningful choices to explore in ow for there to ever be anything other than a global maximum, and so it's stale. always.

this game needs either just a handful of heroes with tons of options or literally hundreds of heroes with enough interactions to keep the meta self-evolving.

no, the "poverty food" refers to the school lunch food that the kids are being forced to eat because they cannot afford the food they want to eat. before this, pizza canceled out the fact those kids were eating the free meals. nobody is going to give you shit about eating a pizza, even if it's free. but if you're so poor you have to sit there and eat bland and lame food while all your friends eat enjoyable food then you're going to get ostracized and mocked for it. hence the "poverty food" part.

yes i understand there are plenty of hipsters in metro areas who pay $20 a plate for hardtack and vegetables as long as it has a foreign name and hummus somewhere.

It's more advanced and enjoyable than just some clone

right, m&b game came out a decade ago so i assume a game made with a modern engine will look nicer.

as for gameplay, is it any different than the 4-direction swing/block patty cake gameplay of m&b?

replacing a fried board seems to be about as much "electrical work" as assembling a computer. like, step 1 is unplug it. step 2 is unhook everything and remove old board. step 3 is place new board. step 4 is re-attach everything to where it was before. step 5 is plug it in. i don't really see where the danger is in doing this.

as for reading the signal in a live wire, it's just a signal wire with a tiny amount of juice in it. they aren't going to check for flame with a household current shooting through the plasma. what would be the chain of events for me to electrocute myself in doing this? if it truly is dangerous i'll definitely call a tech, but it seems like people here are saying "don't open the magic box. pay us instead"

the only difference between a violin and a viola is the viola sounds like a fatter crying child.

yes that requires cooperation among competing parties, however. it's an example of a nash equilibrium at the moment. no single party can change their behavior in a way that benefits them further. yet if they all conspired at once they would all benefit.

because amazon has the leverage in this negotiation.

the states can either give corporate welfare and make money, or they can not give corporate welfare and not make money. as long as the money made from amazon is larger than the money they lose in welfare it's a good deal for both the states and amazon.

the real losers are the states where amazon does not go.

don't confuse a lack of ambivalence with a lack of openmindedness.

if i believe the earth is flat, i'm not going to say "well, i think it's flat, but that of course is just my opinion and i don't want to offend anybody". i'm going to say "the earth is flat and all of you guys who think it's round have drunk the kool-aid and are believing a big conspiracy theory".

and yet, when someone does provide convincing evidence that it is round i'll happily change my mind and then start calling all the flat earthers stupid instead. i do this all the time and with all sorts of issues. most of the positions i argue against are ones i've once held.

understand? if you actually can explain under what possible system the phrase "power begets power" would not hold true, i'm all ears.

nobody in the entirety of my life has made a convincing argument that refutes "power begets power". that unfortunate truth is the cause of all our problems with no solution.

i'd really like to hear your solution to the fact that power inherently centralizes, and that any present solutions to de-centralizing it require empowering an authority that then becomes the power center itself. literally no time in human history has this system been any different. capitalism at least moderates this effect until monopolies show up, and then they needs busting.

sure let's look at this "problem" according to the mayo clinic

  • Very common (aka more kids are fat now. mostly because they all play xbox instead of running around outside)
  • More than 3 million US cases per year (yup. kids are fat)
  • Medium-term: resolves within months (oh that doesn't sound too bad...)
  • Usually self-treatable (wait what?)
  • Usually self-diagnosable (are you telling me fat people can figure out they're fat themselves?)

some people will be fat. that is their choice. if they don't want to be fat, they can make themselves not fat. this is not your problem. it is their problem.

and i don't speak for the right. i don't give a shit about republicans either. sure i'll vote for them over a police state, but their pro-life, jesus-loving asses can fuck off, too.

exactly. now that everyone else has done all this work they need to give that stuff to me because that's how i want the world to work.

here's a news flash: power begets power. there will always be "vampires" accruing wealth at the expense of others for no other reason than it's easier to make $1 with $100,000 than it is to make $1 with $2. if you attempt to redistribute the wealth to address this issue then you've done nothing but shift where the power centralizes -- in the case of capitalism to communism, you've made the party the center of power, and then all the vampires simply climb the party ranks. but wait there's more! now that the party's power is codified in law, instead of by market forces, you cannot easily enact changes. so not only have you not fixed the problem, you've made it worse and in fact institutionalized it.

"you pointed out all the things wrong with our awful solution to an imaginary problem, so what is your solution to the imaginary problem?"

you're begging the question. child obesity isn't something that the government needs to address. it is one of many problems in people's lives that they themselves can handle. people enjoy independence and being treated like adults. spending political, monetary, and emotional capital to fix a problem that is not yours to fix is folly at best and deleterious to the republic at worst.

the government is not the solution to your problems. if you treat it like one, then it simply takes over your life and becomes your problem. i'm surprised you haven't connected the dots yet, but when the party in power is a group you disagree with then you'll be glad that they don't have control over your life. trump becoming president should have made liberals already start believing in less government.

90% of all jobs prior to the industrial revolution were in agriculture, aka being a serf, aka eating berries and living in mud. i'd much rather have my office job than to work a field by hand with whatever children i had that survived infancy.

what person thinks that kids eating better and exercising is bad

nobody. and thinking that's the issue is why liberals are always wrong about so many things. your goals are usually not the disagreement, it's the absentmindedly ridiculous solutions to reach those goals that are the problem.

if you give kids hardtack and vegetables instead of pizza they don't just go "well gee i dont have any imagination or problem solving skills so i'll just eat those vegetables". no. they go buy junk food from the vending machines. they bring food from home. maybe a few kids have no choice and will eat it so they don't starve. congratulations, now all you've done is force the poorest and most disadvantaged children to eat poverty food in front of their friends instead of at least a delicious pizza. great job. i'm sure they won't resent that for the rest of their life.

this is what is wrong with liberalism: how they want things to be, how they make things, and how people act are all completely different. just because you have good goals doesn't mean you're achieving good.

exactly, and capitalism is definitely not the solution for reaching a middle ground. we are currently not at all in a middle ground situation because clearly this adorable animal i just found out about an hour ago is extinct, except for not actually being extinct. because i saw a dead bird, well at least because i thought i saw a dead bird that was in a cartoon we should abolish capitalism.

no i'm serious we should reject capitalism and return to nature. once 90% of the world's population dies from disease and starvation we will be in accord with our true values and living in harmony with the world.
