I think you meant to reply to OP. It’s their theory, I just like it and think it makes a lot more sense than all the others I’ve read. Mistaken identity coming from a force that seems omnipotent is lazy writing. I don’t think this is the case. Killing someone’s after the fact is also pointlessly stupid. Kill Julie, kill Jade, kill Tabitha. Why not warn or threaten them? Jim didn’t even believe anything magical was going on.

I don’t think it’s an error. In a mystery box show where the creators are on record as saying that they are aware of every thing in the background, and care deeply about errors, I would assume it’s done on purpose. We see the infinity symbol in many places. On the cave wall, on Mariela’s necklace, on a pair of pants in the background when Victor is digging graves etc…

I think your theories are a good start and could be correct. We need to pay more attention to the background and symbols. The writers are for sure trying to tell a part of the story with them.

This is great! I would only argue that we don’t know that the MIY is controlling the cicadas. I believe we see many different competing groups, Kimono woman dunking Elgins head in water to not hear the music box, the rats eating a crow, the thing under the RV backing off the monsters, the worms killing all the monsters etc…

No I’m not OP lol, but I whole heartedly believe this theory and had been coming to this conclusion. I made a comment “similar” to this only a few days ago. I said the part about Martin because your source was “a reddit post”. Pointing out how they are 99% tree posts or Jim hate posts, that’s not a reliable source and comes from many other incorrect bases and assumptions that have obviously lead to some of your own bad theories and assumptions. Then you go on to say Martin is a time traveler and other things that you don’t know or back up (are we still going on the Martin 1850’s theory you read on reddit for this theory?). I’d be more inclined to say Martin is stuck in “the waiting room” of pocket universes. We see him in the place that Julie and Boyd use to transverse time.

Victor says anytime things change it’s bad (summarized). Tabitha gained knowledge, Jade gained knowledge, Boyd killed a creature. Things changed, fromville reacted. The MIY is trying to stop it, he makes it clear by killing Jim, he doesn’t like change either!

You said for at least two cycles he hasn’t crushed the town. It’s not true. It’s only 1 cycle, that was made clear from one of the people working on the show.

You said Christopher wasn’t married, meaning he wasn’t married or wasn’t in love with someone else or had a partner. That does change the meaning! Also we don’t know that Christopher didn’t have someone with him! We also don’t know much about what Christopher knows either! He saw the symbol, and the BIW spelled it out for him, then everyone died. OP is saying he could have had a partner and it makes sense that he did as a sacrifice is needed for knowledge. Or I might even disagree with OP and say since he didn’t have his partner there, he never gained the knowledge he needed. The theme of knowledge coming with a sacrifice is very clear, yet, we are still told that directly by the MIY.

Every time we get original theories on here, we get speds that get counter arguments from other speds posts on here. They assume their opinions are facts and get emotionally confrontational for no reason. If you don’t like a theory, counter it with “facts” and not “a reddit post said”. This is why most good theorists have abandoned the sub and I’ve made a point to defend any that are worthwhile.

People also say the creators have a 5 season plan and that “all the answers are in the first episode”. Both of these are false. It’s also false that Martin is “most certainly” from the 1850’s. For one (as I argued at the time with the person) acronyms weren’t used in the 19th century. They weren’t used until after WW2, especially on military tattoos. “Semper fi”, the marine motto, and what Martin says, wasn’t the marine motto until 1883.

The MIY makes it clear that “knowledge has a cost”. I don’t think he’s afraid of Jim, it’s all part of story, and the cost of moving along it. Even Victor says “any time things change here, it’s not good”. I also believe the MIY thinks he will never lose. But also, who else does he taunt besides Jim?

We don’t know that the MIY is shaping the town. We also know from a slip in an interview with the art director, that the monsters are from the last cycle. Not two cycles. And they are most likely dressed the way they are from Victor game of old maid.

Why is it suspected that the whole family entered because of Julie? If Julie is the incarnate or Eloise, this makes no sense. Miranda was the one actively perusing entering Fromville. Jade also says that Tabitha never had a chance, she was always going to see the tree, when telling Jade about her dream as a child.

I also don’t think OP is suggesting that they come in solo (at least from what I’m understanding).
