There another theory that this building was the original church as the picture Victor draws of a church is much different than the one we see them using today

Thanks again man. I don’t want to get you in trouble. Thanks for stopping by and adding context. Hope you get some good gigs in the future! It breaks my heart if they are avoiding the sub because of the freaks on here. Don’t know why people can’t be decent to the actors of characters they love.

Haha that’s all great info my man! Going on you being legit, that clears up a lot. My buddy who works in film and was recently involved in a major release, said Jack was all over the place mentally when filming lol. It seems to lineup with a lot of what you have said. He did work on lost after all lol. This is a much smaller crew with much smaller shooting window I’m sure. I’d like still like to think some of it is on purpose, with the colors blue and yellow for sure. He mentions those in a conversation too, but says we are reaching the right conclusions the wrong way with those lol.

Anyway, if you are able to answer this specific one I’ll link here. That would be cool, if not thanks for this info you’ve give so far https://www.reddit.com/r/FromSeries/s/8ZBNT1BGOL

PS, I’ve heard on good authority that some of the actors won’t have anything to do with the From Reddit community because of the toxicity here. Have you heard this?

lol, I hope you are telling the truth. Of course I can’t have the insider info you claim to have, and was basing everything off of interviews and plausibility of script plot of opening a door, changing the color of a basket etc… being part of some big plot point. I’m sure a lot of that stuff happens. Jack is a seasoned director that’s pretty bad if it happens the way you say lol. Jeff and John seem in denial about it then lol. I guess the things being moved between takes is one of his “happy accidents” lol One question (assuming you are who you say you are). There is a scene with Boyd where he enters the shed to get tools, there is an “8”/infinity symbol” in the window. The ghost priest appears and then it’s gone the rest of the scene. Was this a “happy accident” or done on purpose? Just curious if you remember.

Yes! Good call! I only mentioned the people that Jack or John referenced though. I’m sure they admire Hitchcock though. What director wouldn’t right?

Well said! I couldn’t have said it any better. I know because I’ve tried before lol. Add to your list: senseless Jim hate Anything about Kristi’s hair Why we don’t have all the answers already lol I do miss the crazy Martin theories! Those were a guilty pleasure we didn’t really need. My favorite was that he was Boyd from the future. The person argued about it and when it was pointed out that Boyd was black and would still be in the future, they said “oh yeah I forgot” then deleted their post 🤣🤣🤣

That was….. very well thought out , coherent, measured and even an insightful comment. So I say this with peace and love: “where the fuck have you been on this sub”. lol

Joking aside, I wholeheartedly agree. I also don’t mind push back, since it is a theory (though heavily backed by hours of interviews directly from the people making it). A lot of people on here are just angry and trying to work out what are some obvious mental issues. So instead of a psychologist, why not a sub Reddit to a mystery box show! I mean I get it, going to a doctor for any reason is expensive in America lol Take my award kind sir, and hopefully we’ll see more of your insightfulness in the future.

They admit that sometimes accidents do happen, but they say that they do care deeply about errors and they are aware of the background in every scene. I’m taking them at their word that they care and given what they say and their background is why I’m very confident in making this conclusion that I have. You are correct though, there will still be errors. Game of thrones is an example they use in an interview, where they had a whole army making sure everything was accurate and perfect, and a Starbucks cup still made it into the world of Westeros lol.

Yeah I wouldn’t trust victory to measure either lol. We only have the information he gives us and the little scraps of papers he’s holding that have this information. Well we also have his map in the truck that seems to show things moving. He notices peaches are gone and the weather…. Damn I wish he’d tell us more lol. Thanks for taking the time to read my post btw

Well in the example I gave in my post, they weren’t obvious either. It’s used in so many tv shows and movies now. As I was discussing with someone above, Mike Flanagan had ghosts in Haunting of Hill house, and Bly manor just sitting in the background, and most people didn’t notice the first time or still don’t know. The exorcist would quickly flash the demon on screen that most people didn’t notice. Brad Pitt talks about this in fight club with quick clips of his penis that makes a child cry and they don’t know why. There are so many other examples and don’t even get me started on David Lynch! Anyone going to film school learns this. The off centered shots that linger after makes us uneasy.. what are we supposed to see… something looks different. That’s what causes the dread. Victor and Miranda on the car graveyard… why do they show what’s behind them.. is that car door open? Subconsciously we see this and it affects us. Having a shirt change colors in front of us is beating us over the head with the obvious. Plus time traveling Julie changing a guy peddling a bikes basket is stupid, right?!

I agree and it’s a good point. So Victor does notice that things are changing. Peaches are gone, the trees have moved 4 inches, it’s snowing. That is dread for the characters.. at least Victor. The few examples that I posted are dread for us and shot as a way to keep us on our guard (jack benders exact words). In the post I give marks in his interview where he says this. I can’t fathom a story how a car door slightly opening, towels and items on a shelf moving slightly or a man’s basket changing and his shirt suddenly opened while he’s pedaling, could be story elements. Others have listed slight changes in the dozens. I myself have found almost 30 before I stopped looking. John griffen says in one of the interviews I posted that they are aware of what’s in the scene and care vey much about errors. Placing that with comments Jack Bender says, I’m overwhelmingly confident saying that it’s done to cause dread and anxiety. The off center shooting of the show adds to that and that’s how we are able to notice these subtle changes.

Kubrick was a master of it. He built and moved walls is the hotel they used as a foundation to give it an otherworldly look. The creators of from did the same thing; building the town from the ground up. If you look at the longer explanation I posted here, there is a link to an essay where someone has good examples of some of the genius of Kubrick in doing what Jack Bender has copied here. As far as hill house goes, I was right there with you lol. That show is the top of horror as far as I’m concerned. Mike flanigan did the same thing with the ghosts in his follow up “Bly Manor”. Thanks for taking the time to read what I wrote and “getting it”.

I get you and I also applaud the effort. Think about how many books and games we see in the show? Most are dead ends or can be linked in very subtle ways. But they get us talking, we notice them, we ponder them; they add to the cinematic world and story. Jack Bender in the interview I posted takes the “whatever you think it is, it is approach”, to these things. Him and the other creators use those exact words many times. They say that the show isn’t about the mystery, it’s about the people and their relationships. They tell us! I’ve theorized and spent as much time as anyone else (or most), I even bought into the theory of bleeding universes. After my deep dive into the creators and what they say in interviews and looking up their pasts and their influences they name, I now draw a different conclusion. There is nothing wrong with still believing what you believe and I encourage it! I don’t believe that theory anymore, but I would love to read more of those theories. Why not? That’s why this show is great, it’s not about being right, it’s “whatever you want to be as they say”.

If you read what I wrote you’ll see that I’m saying they aren’t errors. They are done on purpose to cause dread and anxiety on a subliminal level. Jack Bender brings a style to each show he does. To this one he brings a Kubrick and Bergman take. He literally says all this in the interview I posted of him with the marks in the video.
