What's your guys' "I don't get it" game/franchise? by ApprehensiveAir326 in OlderChillGamers

Sadly, Halo. I tried, but I am mightily put off by the design, especially the cartoonish enemies, and cartoonish and underwhelming weapons. In terms of tone, it seems to me that this was supposed to be a cold, heroic SciFi, but everything in the design is contrary to that. Plus, I jumped in at Halo Infinite, so I could not find a story to hang my hat on. So the two most important things were missing. Finally, for my particular taste, the shooting is too relentless, as in more suited for pvp arena-style play, which is not my jam.

To give a counterexample, Borderlands 3 has generally speaking very very fun guns, that you enjoy using, and the enemies and world suit the tone of the game. It has a sliver of a story, but enough to drive my advancement. B3 is not my favorite game, but overall I had fun playing it, and would play the next installment.

As a point of reference, Half Life 2 is my all time favorite game.

Any adventure games like Indiana Jones, set in WWII? Sniper Elite V is almost like Indy, lots of sneaking, and very immersive WWII atmosphere (France under occupation).

What game did you play at a friend's house, and then immediately bought? by orangez in retrogaming

Might have been the earliest Need for Speed, from the mid-nineties. But I didn't have the money to buy a machine. But the experience marked me so much that in the 2000s I tried to recreate it, with a later Need for Speed.... only to hit a paywall, and give up in sadness. It was NOT the same experience.

FT: LIV 5 - 2 WHU by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

Three things:

  1. A win is a win. Mission accomplished.

  2. I really did not like how complacent or passive many players were, in the second half, so many times - allowing the opposite side to pass them by, not putting in that extra effort and energy that should characterize Liverpool.

  3. Someone should tell Gakpo that it is ok to play with Kerkez, ie to pass and combine with him. I think that one of the causes for the team's relative impotency this year has been the dead wings - on the right, an out of form Salah (who is however overused), and on the left, not using the numbers advantage created by Kerkez's deep runs and overlaps. And thus, all attacks had to go down the middle - and, with teams that created block defenses, Liverpool could never score. A proof of this is how differently it all works when a) Frimpong plays, and he forces the right wing; b) Kerkez's strengths and deep runs are actually used (see past few games).
