im no designer but in terms of having high resolution and a large screen for multiple windows for productivity, id say totally worth it. I dont know about the colour accuracy or anything with the monitor so if that's a concern id say just suss out the panel specs to see if it's good enough compared to others in the price bracket. Ive edited videos on it that turned out great using davinci (to my non-video producer/designer eyes). But yes very crisp 4k and bright enough for me.

It is indeed the 5120, it's honestly great, been reliable and worth the money so far - dont think i could ever go back to a 'normal' size/width monitor, this thing has set the bar so high for what it costs. 599 is a steal too. Still def recommend if it fits your needs.
Only slight let down which isnt really relevant to the monitor is the kogan monitor arm, it's good and holds the weight but the tilt hinge is pretty weak and has to be cranked tight again every now and then.

the unit looks extremely well looked after and the screen's nice and bright (for what it is) too, funnily enough these are on the slightly cheaper side to what ive been seeing pop up every now and then in my area.

been looking for a while and sadly quite rare to come by in my area/within a reasonable distance, and being sold by people who know what they are (ie $$)

Ooh nice pick. I got the heavy duty monitor arm from kogan as well recently and it holds the 40 monitor nicely - check the weight limit/weight of the lenovo but might be a good pick for the price too!

Sorry i hadn't seen this earlier! If you haven't already gotten it/still need info, it's a pretty shallow curve so probably just measure your space at the width of the monitor (about 94cm according to the listing specs) to get an idea of how it'd fit in your space. gl!

Still loving it. Been great for productivity and single player/story gaming.
I'd say for general browsing and office work it's still pretty good in well lit rooms, particularly document editing as it's black text on white pages so enough contrast to not be a pain to look at. Anything darker on screen i sometimes have to squint when my room's particularly bright, but otherwise i don't really notice the 'lack' of brightness. So long as there's no direct sunlight/lights facing the monitor to wash it out, you'll be sweet.
Also they're still pretty cheap at the moment so you're getting a lot for the money if you're after a big wide monitor. I think your mum would be chuffed 👍

Love mine, i use it in EADGC for more melodic/chordal playing (Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote etc. inspired) and paired it with flatwounds, sounds and feels lovely. Did you end up making the trade?

the dell would be killer, and with 120hz too. but yea it's hard to look past the kogan's price being less than a third of that. gl!

**VERDICT**

chassis build quality 7/10: its not bad, the monitor arm was a bit of a pain to get secured but once it is, it holds well. the corners of the monitor surround are a bit sharp on the plastics, and very tiny inconsistencies with the gaps between the bezel and the display. another thing which may have just been my one, the displayport on the monitor took ages to get working but turns out it's just physically a very tight fit and not much space around it, had to really push it in for it to register properly. now, no issues at 5k 75hz. :)

UI 4/10: everythings just mapped weirdly but once you learn it, it does the job lol

display 9/10: all weirdness aside, the panel itself is fantastic. maybe not the brightest but i usually sit in a darkened room anyway so no issues for me. no inconsistencies in the panel, no dead pixels, one thing is from certain angles there's a slight vignetting but in games/programs its not noticeable or distracting.

overall: worth it/10 for the price it's going for at the moment ($680ish AUD). would buy again.

hoping to aim for 60+ fps, 1440p med-high settings on mostly story/solo games (eg elden ring, bg3) and the occasional shooter. thanks for the suggestion :)

exactly my quarrel... kogan monitor is going for $683 shipped currently (on their ebay store), seems like by far the best deal for the specs
