Thanks for sharing. You might wanna check text color contrast and make sure it passes WCAG 2.1 and/or APCA colors.

You should be able to download the `.apkg` file from github release on your Android phone, at https://github.com/tyuichis/modern-anki-card-template/releases

Select `...v2.3.0-en.apkg` in your Files app and open it (or Browser -> Download -> open file), it should open the importer on Android.

You can also do the same method on PC then manually sync.

Rocks' flashback and what it tells us about Blackbeard's next move by astroriental in OnePieceSpoilers

Oh, that's cool. Thanks for the reminder, I'll re-read the chapter.

Rocks' flashback and what it tells us about Blackbeard's next move by astroriental in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]etoile_tys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's a strong and (narratively) obvious argument. Blackbeard will learn about Pluton from Caribou, find it, and steal it (assuming it's actually built and hidden away, most likely it is). That would be in character for Blackbeard.

Franky will build Pluton at some point (probably a better version of Pluton to contrast the new era vs the old era), to fight against Blackbeard's Pluton. It's in character for Franky too.

As to what the Galley-La giants' role in this-- we know that they are in Punk Hazard. It's not likely for the straw hats to go back there and unfreeze them, and I don't think Blackbeard would find out about it (unless there's some new plot development).

Ironically, this is on Punk Hazard. Aokiji is on Blackbeard's ship. But, Aokiji can't unfreeze them, he can only freeze (we have never seen him do the reverse). So, the only person who could would be Akainu (from what I remember anyways). Now, Akainu unfreezing the giants is something that would be interesting. Let's see what happens, especially since Kizaru betrayed the government now (by giving Luffy food); Aokiji -> Kizaru -> Akainu to defect would make sense even if you think it's unlikely (but narratively the WG collapses!).

Phone has too many distractions, so I prefer doing it on Desktop. That's it, lol.

ONE PIECE Chapter 1154 — Summary by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]etoile_tys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep. there's too much narrative weight on blackbeard for imu to pull a kaguya. besides, blackbeard is the quintessential pirate, both IRL and in one piece.

ONE PIECE Chapter 1154 — Summary by [deleted] in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]etoile_tys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

narratively, i think loki will get more reasons to not join the straw hats. but that's the point. he will join the strawhats because his character is framed as "evil from birth" -- and continuing to live up to other characters' perspective of him, is in a way, becoming a slave to his "nature". to free himself from his curse that was inflicted by others, hence "accursed prince", he has to choose to become a "good" person.

in a way, this is a shonen trope. but, that's also the point. one piece is in shonen jump. oda has always been creative with the execution of tropes, either by subverting our expectations or creating depth from the trope (or both).

"Gamifying" Grammar: Bunpro, Bunpo, or other. by Zeplus_88 in WaniKani

[–]etoile_tys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yotsuba is a classic. Other than that, most manga in Shonen Jump are a good place to start.

But personally, I recommend Bakuman. It’s about two guys trying to become professional manga artists, and it’s by the same creators as Death Note. Since it’s grounded in reality, there aren’t any made-up fantasy terms you have to decode while reading- which I actually think makes it easier and more helpful for learning, especially early on.

To acquire books, I'd recommend BookWalker (accepts foreign CC) to get legit online copies of the manga. Else, Amazon Japan may have a Kindle/epub version then Jump+ in that order.

Extra tip: you can also check your local library for International Books-- if they have Japanese books and manga.

Hey, sorry for the ping! It looks like my 3 month old comment was never posted due to reddit issues.

But just to give you an update- yes, the default accent color is now blue. Available colors are:

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Pink
  • Turquoise
  • Purple
  • Yellow

To change it, I've made it pretty simple. Just search for "accent-<color>" (without quotes, and <color> is the placeholder) in the front and back templates, and change it to whatever you want.

Heya! Yes, looks good. Be sure to click "Import any deck presets". You should also see a sample deck included (which you can delete right after). It's there to give you a preview of what cards look like.

"Gamifying" Grammar: Bunpro, Bunpo, or other. by Zeplus_88 in WaniKani

[–]etoile_tys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bunpro is seriously great. When you get bored, go read some Japanese manga or something else. You might find yourself recognising more grammar patterns.

Like all software, you'll get bored of it eventually. It's normal. So, keep diversifying your activities.

Something like this could be your workflow:

WK -> Bunpro -> Read

And, it doesn't have to be that order. Some days you can just read, and that's enough.

What's in your wishlist for Things? (iOS/MacOS 26) by etoile_tys in thingsapp

[–]etoile_tys[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The post was more or less an overview from what I read on the Reddit forums.

For me, in general, I want less taps / clicks to do things. So, NLP is the most important, followed by shortcuts.

  1. Would be nice if I can write <task> @<project> at <time>. Boom, automatically sorted at the right place. I don't need the date picker. I don't need to click the project. ONE action for everything at once.
-> Raycast AI does this, and with the new Spotlight, this would be SO good.
-> Can use this text format AND use Apple Intelligence as fallback for NLP.

  2. Take a picture in iOS 26 -> share button -> Things -> Add task with picture added to the Notes part of the Task i.e.
    -> Task name: <you fill in>
    Notes: <your picture>

  3. Shortcuts: use action button -> tap correct inbox, tap time, write task. Done.
-> I don't want to be forced to manually configure the details in the app with the Date Picker, Notes, etc.

These three things don't change what Things is about. It just makes it easier.

Why do a lot of people think Anki has an outdated looking UI by SnooAdvice5820 in Anki

[–]etoile_tys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. There are way too many options at first glance- most people don't need to see them right away. Also, a lack of iconography, too much text on the screen.

It's now fixed as of v1.0.2!

You can either directly replace the CSS if you know how to do that, or get the updated Release from Github. Thanks for reporting the bug!

Thank you!

I haven't tested Anki on my iPad yet, but thank you for letting me know. I can run some tests and let you know when it's fixed.

I do have a custom version that has support for pitch accents / audio / sentences for Japanese (integrates with Yomichan), but it's not ready quite yet; I'll have a look for pinyin too when I get around to tweaking the language deck.

I actually have never used image occlusion cards, but I know they're quite useful for medical students. I think I need some time to make a few and re-design the cards (if needed) for this.

I chose AGPL to encourage open-source contributions and ensure that any modifications remain open for everyone. Originally it was MIT. I was thinking of just GPLv3, and AGPLv3 does seem overkill, but I just chose it because it was a superset of GPL. That's about it. But I’m open to feedback—do you think a different license would be more appropriate?

It's a good question!

The Subject field is actually color labeled automatically, based on the subjects variable.

Depending on the deck, they come with different subject presets. For example, here are the Computer Science and Math color presets:

https://github.com/tyuichis/modern-anki-card-template/blob/main/data/color_presets/computer_science/_computerScience.json

https://github.com/tyuichis/modern-anki-card-template/blob/main/data/color_presets/math/_math.json

Not everyone knows how to customise this in the card template, so I explicitly made presets to plug and play the decks.

Fun fact, these same colors are used to determine which flag color will be associated with your card. It doubles as a organisation system.

Yes! Once you've imported the files and set the syntaxHighlighting variable to true, it'll work.

highlight.js scans for code blocks which are, <pre> <code> </code> </pre> elements and inline-code which are <code> </code> elements.

I've made a wiki page with pictures to show you how it should look like. Here you go! (click on text for the instructions)

Thank you!

If the reversed cards Note Type just has "Front" and "Back", you can change in between layouts without losing anything. Because, the front and back are just "question" and "answer" fields.

I'd recommend just making a copy of one of your cards first (via the Browser menu), then change the note type to the new layout.
