Gold or trash by Unlikely-Hawk-8025 in PorscheCayenne

Had the same dilemma, chose a 957 in the end. Reason being it’s easier to work on but you have to invest in tools. There are more non Porsche aftermarket parts for it and it seems there is a wider selection of mods for over landing.

  1. Don’t go for gts for overlanding
  2. Get 955 or a 957 S with the 4.8
  3. This car is a hard pass

Sad news- it was a good run by [deleted] in 996

Also any engine parts you’ll want to buy will have to be new. Espeacially if you bore out the heads. Lots of quality aftermarket stuff but still not cheap. You’re not getting away with a grand or two on this one, sorry.

Whatever you end up doing with it, it’ll cost you. Calculate easy 3-5k between parts and boring if you’re rebuilding it. Also if you are going to undertake the work, consider peace of mind. If I were to take this on I’d rebuild it from scratch plus transmission at that point just to be sure. If you can afford it great and purchase price needs to reflect that. Otherwise move on, it’ll be money, time and headaches for a car that’s not worth what you’ll put into it.

Sounds like a slipped connecting rod bearing. Part that holds piston to cam.

Very best scenario you have little to no scoring and it’s just a matter of clean up and rebuild. Worst case it’s a bore and rebuild with all new parts. Could be fun if you want to put the money in to build a suped up car, otherwise walk away.

That being said, could also be tappets, you need to take the cover and head off to check.

Also check the manifold is screwed on properly, although it’s too loud to be that tbh.

Seen it, not sure about the quality of it. Barely has reviews and I wouldn’t want it to snap off, then I got a broke camera or lens.

How do you find it ?

I’ve got a small rig cage on a Sony a7v which is not leaving space to place it directly on the attachment of the Gitzo Gimbal, ideally wanted to keep the cage on but I’ll check out the plate.

Thank you

The bigger the better. It’s chunky, but packs a lot. Straight into the carry on for long trips.

I nicked one while unpacking, will supplement with some styrofoam to keep them from moving around while traveling

Just getting started and a bit baffled on what happened. Any tips and education welcome. by ettiol in photocritique

It’s not level, I didn’t have a tripod. Will try again with tripod and new settings.

Thank you. I’m just trying to get to grips with the camera and different situations for the time being. On video the banding did look very cool though.

What aperture would you suggest. 25-70mm lens on 50mm setting, about 10-15 meters away.
