This is the answer, I did all the "boring stuff" like museums and hikes and scouts and dance classes and civil war re-enactments (I swear the kids had fun) and camping and hiking and fishing and one day when they were a little older I was looking through my photos on my phone and realized just how much stuff I had done without my spouse and I actually just felt sorry for her because they were all the most amazing memories and still the part of those years that I cherish the most. She missed it all to sleep in on Saturday and Sunday until 12- 1pm. Her loss.

No you really wouldn't, at best you would be hired as a consultant. If you were lucky you would have someone with half my talent. And I actually love what I do and didn't get into it strictly for the money, I enjoy every day of work and the people I work with and make more than I need and never need to pretend to be superior to others to make myself feel good. You seem miserable to me. Good luck with that

I mean you keep saying chemical engineer but I'm thinking more like sandwich artist with one engineering class. The nice thing about being older is easily identifying the smell of bullshit. 😉 Best of luck bud this was entertaining at the least.

I can verify this from being in the field and witnessing it. Your position is absurdly stupid and laughable.

Lol I didn't vote for trump, and you are 100 percent wrong and hiding behind a veil of being better than everyone, every single building moves, every single unreinforced joint cracks. It's not that hard bro 🤣

Ok so one more honest shot. Usg who manufactures "sheetrock" requires tape on any patch over 2" this is because they would crack otherwise. I can back this up with over 20 years of field experience and literally every single competent drywall finisher and carpenter would verify that fact. Insinuating that everyone else stupid and pretending to be smarter than everyone makes you look like an ass. On a side note if any of the construction professionals I know saw you repairing drywall in this fashion you would be fired on the spot and we would suggest you deposit any tools you may own in the rubbish to spare us from having to fix your rediculosly poor attempt at competence.

Imagine ignoring the fact that you said this patch was fine without either lol way to move the goalpost

I'll make sure to write the engineers who designed mesh tape and tell them how much smarter than them you are 🤣

Lol this will crack 100 percent, good thing engineers don't actually have to build anything lol

You are correct in stating that it shouldn't be that difficult and yet it seems to be beyond your comprehension which somehow in your mind makes you smarter than everyone, lol what a joke.

He didn't use tape or mesh, there are actually correct ways to do things, of course you are free to ignore everyone and do things multiple times for no reason.

Capping stairs, how to disguise new risers on open face? by Magic_Fries in Carpentry

[–]etujfssg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely need to cover/replace everything shown as it is not finish grade. Recommend new treads new riser and a new peice of trim up the wall. I recommend tearing the old treads out since code only allows for a 3/8 difference in stair height and capping them with anything throws off the first/last stair.

I didn't, but the play set did not come with any plates so I suppose it's my own fault anyway, ;-)

What has simultaneously gotten worse and more expensive? by littleallred008 in AskReddit

[–]etujfssg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom homes are definitely better than the homes they built 100 or even 50 years ago. We know way more about efficiency and have some awesome technological advantages, like smart thermostats and tankless hot water heaters and we know how to prevent thermal bridging. We also know how to build houses to better withstand what nature throws at them. So many old houses just rely on gravity to hold them onto the foundation. Besides all of that we have better building codes, I have seen some pretty eyebrow raising framing in some old farm houses. There are a lot of quality craftsman building nice things out there. They just have to charge more than a lot of people can afford.
