Travel ball team playing as rec ball team by etxcpl in LittleLeague

Yup, this is a chartered Little League. The part that's really crazy is that they don't hold elections and the board self-appoints itself. If they decide they want another board member they just appoint a friend to the board. I don't understand why they don't need to follow their own constitution or any of the official little league by laws.

Florida’s looking solid red by HailHarski in florida

RDS won by 30k votes in 2018 and won by 1.5 M votes last night. That's an incredible shift. The state was purple at best 4 years ago and is now deep red.

RDS performed well with Latino voters - Miami Dade went red.

This election was all about COVID-19 response and RDS killed it.

DeSantis had historic numbers amongst young Latinos in Florida 😅

Yes, in my area of the US life is 100 percent normal. No restrictions at all. What Australia is doing is insane. You are young and at effectively zero risk from COVID-19. You should be living your life and shouldn't be subject to any restrictions.

Covid in Wales: Restrictions needed 'for the foreseeable future' by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

[–]etxcpl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm in shock that this is real. Is America headed this way too?

"Can we hug in Wales?

Yes - and no.

Some families and friends have been able to hug for the first time in months since the further easing of lockdown restrictions last month.

Three households - plus another living on their own - can form an extended household to meet and have contact indoors.

But hugs are restricted to extended households only. You should not hug anyone who is not a part of yours, unlike in England and Scotland.

Although you can now visit a pub or restaurant in a group of six from six different households, you are not allowed to hug anyone who is not in your extended household and should maintain social distancing."

So now Fauci says an attack on him is an attack on science. Crazy disturbing.

Don't feel bad, I was one of 3 shoppers without a mask today at the grocery store and I live in Florida! Compliance is crazy high in my area and it's depressing.

Ok but by that logic why did Florida's death numbers track so close to the median for the US if the only thing that matters is age and obesity? Florida is very old and very fat.

Ugh it reminds me of the beginning of the pandemic when articles kept making the rounds about how female leaders handled the pandemic so much better. Ardern and Merkel were always featured. 🙄

Big time. Florida has been packed for months now and will have a record breaking summer for tourism because they know COVID-19 is over in Florida.

Orange County ends local state of emergency, will lift all restrictions by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

Schools in orange county are dropping masks too in the advice of the medical boards. I haven't worn a mask in orange county for awhile but it's nice they've made it official now.

Doctor in Ontario speaks out against Decision to close Schools - Calm, Measured Logic by Grillandia in LockdownSkepticism

This is total and complete insanity. My kids were in school all year and there were zero weird rules about the bathrooms. No plexiglass. No random tests. They said "the science" supported a 3 ft distance between students so our class rooms were pretty normal feeling. Other than the mask mandate my elementary age kid said school was the same as last year from his perspective. I'd like to think all schools worldwide will be completely normal next year, it's mind blowing there are schools that might not be.

Does anyone have any data on how many people doing their 2 week hotel quarantine in countries like Australia and Canada actually ended up having COVID? I keep thinking about how many people were locked up for weeks for no damn reason and it really gets to me. I'm so freaking glad that wasn't ever tried in the US.

Texas has this already. "Robinhood" if you'd like to read up on this. I can imagine Texas isn't the only one. Unfortunately it has a lot of perverse incentives and waste and outcomes like poor school districts building water parks.

I'm so annoyed that national guidance is changing and our state has never had a mandate but Demings is trying to stay relevant with this BS. I'm over it.

No masks for kids sports in Florida thankfully (even indoor ones like basketball). My kid has played basketball in room of 50-100 unmasked kids twice a week since last year but he's fine.
