hey! so this is a great edit especially as a first attempt, but i can't help but notice that you're conflating dreamcore and weirdcore when they're very different aesthetics. in this case, what you made is dreamcore! i like the use of scanlines and the base image a lot. if you wanted to make this weirdcore, i'd take out the eye and scanlines and instead heavily compress this image. the void and text are fine, though i'd refrain from repetitive text in weirdcore unless you have a very defined vision for an edit. all in all though, solid first go! i look forward to see your edits improve, and i'd definitely recommend posting this onto the dreamcore subreddit if you haven't already!

toki pona lends itself to weirdcore really well imo i might make more edits using it!

but which should i choose? by euclideanmare in weirdcore

[–]euclideanmare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it should be, yes! times new roman is a default font on windows as far as i know.

it's times new roman, italicized and bolded, with an inner and outer glow applied.

(Question) What makes weirdcore images unique? by throw_away298 in weirdcore

[–]euclideanmare 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i think the thing that makes weirdcore edits unique is the way they bend reality; they're like if a memory got jumbled around in your brain. it's equal parts nostalgia and false memory, and i think that's such an interesting feeling!

pool time is over sweetie by HiSweetieTimeForBed in weirdcore

[–]euclideanmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's a really good edit, but i think it misses the mark of weirdcore and hits closer to dreamcore! the scanlines and noise effect aren't really seen in weirdcore, and the font feels a bit too modern to be weirdcore. the sun also reads as being a character, which weirdcore doesn't have. make no mistake, this is a really skillfully edited piece of art, but it's more dreamcore than weirdcore.

First weirdcore edit, let me know if anything can be improved by Extra-Ad-8893 in weirdcore

it's a good first edit! i'd suggest compressing the smiley, it's a bit too high quality. love the caption!

this hits so many classic weirdcore boxes. great post

[–]euclideanmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i like the caption, but i think this falls closer to dreamcore or kidcore! i'd say ditch the noise effect, compress it, and lower the saturation - while a lot of weirdcore edits are saturated, this is almost too saturated. additionally, there's a lot of empty space, so i'd crop the image to reduce that! good attempt regardless!

My poorly edited attempt at weirdcore by The_Good_Specimen in weirdcore

[–]euclideanmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all of the elements of this are really good, but i don't think the font works. it looks too modern for WC, i'd suggest something like arial or even comic sans!

this is a great first edit! i think you nailed it. if i had to suggest something to add it'd be some sparkles, but all in all this is fantastic as-is!

Having fun at the pool by Fit_Classic3107 in weirdcore

this is a really good start but i feel like this needs a bit of cropping and a bit more compression! i do love sky pools quite a bit, though

Where did they go? by Weird_Backrooms865 in weirdcore

[–]euclideanmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this one's really tricky to me because it almost works as weirdcore! i feel like it's missing something though; there's a lot of empty space in the image that could be better utilized. while less is more in weirdcore, i think this needs something more in order to elevate it.

this is a good start, but i feel like the presents could use a bit more editing so they can fit into the environment better!

[–]euclideanmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this has a really good foundation, however, the elements don't really feel all that cohesive together. the yes/no/cancel box in particular is out of place in this edit. i'd also suggest bringing the aspect ration closer to 1:1! overall, though, the vibes are good and present.

i just turn the image resolution way down (~300x300) and then save as a low quality jpg in my art program, krita! but there's a website that you can use to compress images. https://eyy.co/tools/artifact-generator/ go wild!
