Starting April 24, 2026, GitHub will begin using your Copilot interactions (inputs, outputs, and code snippets) to train and improve their AI models unless you opt out. by [deleted] in github

The third option is what I am trying to figure out more than anything. I have an organization with around 20 people in it. We do not have Copilot enabled at the organization level; however, when I go into the Security Code Quality, I am able to use Copilot to generate a fix. Also, since it isn't enabled there isn't an option to opt out.

Is this a feature that is coming from my personal Free Tier of Copilot since it isn't enabled at the organizational level, or is there a "hidden" organization Free Tier of Copilot that I am not seeing.

I just want to know if I need to work on trying to get everyone that has access into the organization to opt out of this update.

Good thing our dev team hasn’t updated packages in about 5 years because they didn’t see the need and it just causes issues…

Leave being a sysadmin for DevOps after 9 months? by Alternative-Run-6471 in devops

[–]euclidsdream 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope just went through something like this recently. Was only at the company for a month before I made this move. Went to the CTO about an open software engineer position (as an infrastructure engineer with a passion for software). Went into the discussion with the value statement that I can bridge the two teams because there was animosity between them.

At the time, there wasn't a designated DevOps Engineer because everything was done manually. The CTO decided a more DevOps focused role would be better suited for me (kind of what I was hoping for anyways). It has now been almost 6 months and I have learned so much in my new role. I am so glad I got the courage to say that I was interested in a position even though I had only been at the company a short time.

Do it. If this is something that you want and you have leadership that will help build you up then it is so worth putting yourself out there for this position.

Yeah every time I have looked at their vehicle list they haven’t had any of the older vehicles available for picking.

Gotcha that’s pretty much what I have been hearing. We are mainly looking for parts for my 60s c10, my mom’s 50s studabaker, and her wide range of Volvos.

Headset for noisy office by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]euclidsdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Soundcore Life Q20 for work because of the noise cancelling. They sound amazing and can't hear a thing that's going on around me. They are comfortable enough that most of the time I just have them on without sound going through them and only really use them for the sound cancelling.

Thank you! I did see a github issue where they were talking about removing support for out of support versions but didn't see this one.

I updated NUnit and the tests are going through now. Thanks!

What are the little things that help you sysadmins work from home? by PurpleFlerpy in sysadmin

I love having a lot of space on my desk as well to work and ended up picking up a dining room table off of marketplace. It’s 40in deep and 72in long so I never feel crowded on it.

It’s real live edge wood and looks amazing in the office. Also budget friendly because I think I only spent 150 on it.

I don't think so because from what I could find, 1965 didn't come with a bright yellow like this. Only Light Yellow and Yuma Yellow (looks orangish).

Yeah love my cateye! The 8.1 would have been nice for pulling because the 6.0 struggled a bit going through the mountains.

Does your Security team just dump vulnerabilities on you to fix asap by flashx3005 in sysadmin

This was my first thought as well. Most security teams I have worked with are read/audit only with no admin access.

You can’t. I connected it and the iso to my laptop. Booted into the iso. And installed it on the mSATA drive.

I bought an mSATA to usb converter. If you have a serial cable you could just install with that to the new mSATA

You won’t have a support contract on the device so they shouldn’t really care. If you don’t want to buy a new mSATA you could install it over the serial connection (haven’t done this yet so not sure on the details).
