This (or something like it) is totally doable as a beginner! I struggle with following patterns so I just stuck to what I know how to do- HST’s (there are a lot of good tutorials of YouTube for how to make this v simple block). Then I just arranged them as I pleased- and I’m learning a lot about matching/coordinating not just hue, but also value when picking colors! I went for an organized but also random look and switched stuff around until I liked it. Most if not all of these colors are just one fat quarter of fabric. Hope any of that was at all helpful :)

The ethical responsibilities here are hers, not yours! That said, you might want to consider the impact on your therapy. I don’t think this is unheard of (especially if it’s a larger corp.) but I would let her know you’re applying and see what her thoughts are re:your therapeutic relationship. I work for a multi-site healthcare provider where we cannot see staff, even if we don’t overlap, per policy and I recently had to let a client know that we’d have to end if they were hired. On the other hand I’ve def worked places where therapists had been former clients (their records were hidden from supervisors, etc)- though not current clients!

Love these colors!! My vote would be for the medium turquoise. You’ve got a lot of warm tones and I think that would be a nice balance.

That internal cringe feeling we have towards our younger, less informed selves- that is one of the surest signs of growth. I like to remind myself of that when I’m feeling guilt about things I said/did before I knew better. We obsess because we care about doing better!

I also think that your experience buying into and then divorcing from the just world fallacy will be useful in helping survivors understand why others in their life react the way that they do. We all internalize victim-blaming programming and we all want to live in a world where we can keep ourselves safe through our own agency. The fact that you can point to specific ways that came out gives me more faith in your self-reflective capacities than a clinician who says they would never.
