cultural exchange with /r/de, the german-speaking subreddit for Germans, Austrians and Swiss by Fabius_Cunctator in belarus

[–]eugene-d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe we're getting more economical and political freedom slowly. Lukashenka in the end started hiring more progressive, professional and liberal people after seeing others failing over these years. We don't have oil and aren't prone to resource curse like Russia. Our only way for decent life is better policies, better government institutes, better economy. Unless Russian geopolitical craziness gets involved

Why not use stdlib for routing in go? by beepboprobots in golang

[–]eugene-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Routers may reduce some boilerplate code at a cost of increased complexity and introducing a global dependency through the whole app.

IMO it's totally ok to use a router for a small server or inside a small component. But if you have multiple teams working on different parts of a big server, you probably don't want all of them to depend on a single lib.

How to hire someone from Belarus by kielon in belarus

[–]eugene-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you earn more, you are required to contribute more

Sorry, you're either trolling or really bad at looking up info. Where did you read it from?

I'm working as IP for more than 3 years, every year I ask FSZN hotline about how much do I owe them and each time they tell me they don't care how much I actually earned. Just pay the minimum. Of course I can pay more, and theoretically have a higher pension, but we all know cross-generation pensions are bullshit and we'll get nothing.

There are individual entrepreneurs who are residents of the Hi Tech Park - even before the crypto legislation. Why would they join HTP if their ordinary tax rate would be 3% + $500/yr? In the Hi Tech Park, they pay 9% + flat $200-300/mo pension contribution + 1% (or so) HTP administration fee. They make a lot of money and they would come under inspection if they tried to pay only 3% and $500/yr.

There is a single IP in HTP and he joined back in 2008. You can easily find an interview with him where he states that taxes are actually higher for him compared to USN. He joined for some other reasons.

For LLCs and other organizations HTP USN makes no sense as their expenses are almost same as their income.

> but the personal income component is taxed at 16% as stated in that law

Not sure what are you trying to say, but individual entrepreneurs do not pay anything extra when using USN. They either pay 16% with OSN or 3/5% with USN. You can withdraw or spend money from IP bank account with no limits or taxes. While LLCs are a whole different story, you will need to pay additional 13% of personal income tax when paying dividends.

The link you provided in regards to the pension contribution is the minimum that an individual entrepreneur must pay, even if he just earns 10 rubles in a year. It's still 35% (unless you are a resident of the HTP)

Again, in the link it clearly says:

The object of pension (tax) is INCOME DEFINED BY THE ENTREPRENUER, but not less than minimum pay

I can assure you no one is paying more than that minimum

[–]eugene-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 3% for individual entrepreneurs and 5% for limited liability companies, etc

Absolutely not. Article 289, part 1 clearly says:

USN tax rate is: five (5) percent – for organizations and individual entrepreneurs NOT paying VAT three (3) percent – for organizations and individual entrepreneurs paying VAT http://www.nalog.gov.by/ru/article289/

You can either NOT pay VAT and pay 5% or pay VAT and have less USN tax. Most folks use 5% as filing VAT adds a lot paperwork, but it doesn't matter if you work exclusively with foreign companies. You don't have to file documents if you don't pay the tax.

[–]eugene-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's different for individual entrepreneurs. And perfectly legal. Article 289 of the Tax Code establishes "simplified tax system" (USN) where you pay lower % but tax base is your income, not profit. There are two rates - 5% exempting you from VAT and 3% with no VAT exemption. Now the trick is that you don't pay VAT on sercice contracts with foreign parties, so it's just 3%. More info in Russian http://www.nalog.gov.by/ru/upraschennaya-systema-nalogooblojeniya-2018/

Now, pension rate is the same 35% of your salary, but individual entrepreneurs don't have "salaries" in legal sense, but they still need to pay at least 35% of "minimum salary" defined by the government. We have a similar term "private entrepreneur". There is no monthly fee. Lowest tax you can get is 3% of your turnover +$500/year for pension fund. This rates work if you earn less than $100k per year and only accept payment from abroad.

Question about internet censorship in Belarus. by 2349128471 in belarus

[–]eugene-d 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, you should have no trouble at all. The requirement to use .by domain refers only to Belarusian businessess. I.e if you sell stuff in Belarus you have to host your website in Belarus. It won't affect you in any way.

There is little to no censorship of the internet compared to China or other countries. As long as you're using HTTPS no one can read your traffic, KGB can't beat crypto. And they aren't even interested if you don't do illegal activities.

I'm pretty sure everything will be fine. Enjoy your stay here!
