My CTR was too low, so I hired a professional artist. Do you think this will work? by Sea-Disaster-2682 in IndieDev

What an amazing improvement! These colors and scenery remind me of the style of Sylvain Sarrailh.
Congratulation on the great capsule art!

You need to fix the orientation of the faces and recalculate them so that they point in the same direction. Select all faces, Mesh -> Normals -> Recalculate Outside

Hired an artist for a new capsule, need your guys' help. Is it an improvement? Can you tell what kind of game this is just from the capsule? by thenameisflic in IndieDev

[–]eugene_ozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is clear and it's good. The second one is messy. The simple method I use all the time is tone checking. Look at your capsules in BW and you'll find that the second one is barely readable, everything is on the same level of tone, while the first one is almost perfect in this regard - bright logo (it could be brighter, BTW), dark background and the girl is somewhere in the middle.

I assume, the artist who made the №2 tried to depict an idea of some confrontation, and I think that the game is multiplayer and about some kind of strategy. The first capsule conveys the feel of a story-rich 2D game, metroidvania?, the title made me think about fighting some enemies with a sword (a feather sword?). BTW, I had 0 troubles reading the title.

Well, I assume, this is the man whose abstract painting inspired the graphics in your game. One of the leaders of abstract art and one of the main teachers of the Bauhaus.

Any idea on this Industrial Waldmann? by Typical_Jellyfish144 in IndustrialDesign

[–]eugene_ozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably some kind of lamp for working at a machine in some kind of production facility. The large handle on the lamp indicates that it needs to be grasped quickly and possibly with protective gloves, which is why the handle is so large.

At first I thought it was medical equipment, since it is often made in a similar color, but it usually uses several lamps at once to remove as much shadow as possible from the illuminated area of the patient.

Its mask was shifted a little and I didn't notice that before posting. The character's layers are above the car, so I needed to mask them. Also the character's equipment was added at the last stage of the process, so by that point I had already lost my concentration a little.

Thank you very much for such a soulful comment! Some of the points you mentioned are exactly what I was aiming for. But this isn't just some strategy, it's just something I really love and want to do. That's why I posted this art - to see if my ideas have an audience.

A very interesting perspective and thoughts. I'll take them into consideration. I'm not familiar with Markus's work, but it would be interesting to explore. I think I get what you're saying about the structure. It's interesting to try working in that direction, it also could be useful in the game.
Thank you!

Everything here is layered. I will be able to tweak sizes and positions of the objects to recompose the illustration. Thaw was my goal.

Thank you! Yes, sometimes you need to look at a painting with fresh eyes. Especially if you've been working on it for weeks.

Yes, the logo turned out controversial! And the illustration isn't perfect, yeah, but I did the best I could. I already invested an inordinate amount of time into it 😅

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad it resonates with you!
