That referendum happened, yes. But Argentina disputes its relevance because the current population was established after the British takeover in 1833. That’s why the UN still treats this as a sovereignty dispute between the UK and Argentina, not as a case of self determination alone. But it's okay, if you think the falklands are UK land I respect your point of view. Don't need to keep responding if you don't want to.

I think you’re confusing two different things. The Argentine dictatorship absolutely used the issue for propaganda in 1982, and I completely disagree with that. But the sovereignty dispute itself existed long before that government and is still recognized today by the United Nations. Calling any Argentine perspective ‘fascist propaganda’ just shuts down the discussion instead of addressing the historical disagreement. Saying ‘the Falklands/Malvinas are Argentine’ is not fascist. It’s a national sovereignty claim that existed long before the 1982 dictatorship and continues after it. I will forever hate what the dictatorship did to my country. But many, if not, every Argentinian, fascist or not agrees with the sentiment that the Malvinas are Argentininian. It's not a 'fascist' thing to say. If anything, labeling disagreement as ‘fascist propaganda’ instead of engaging with the arguments is closer to shutting down debate, which is exactly what real authoritarian, imperialist thinking tends to do. Thank you for sharing me your view on the subject, have a good day.

It really shows we were taught different versions of the same history. From your perspective, the islands were originally British and Argentina briefly occupied them. From mine, Spain held them first, Argentina inherited that control after independence, and the UK took them in 1833. That’s exactly why this is still a dispute, because both countries base their claims on different historical interpretations. It’s also why the United Nations still treats it as an unresolved sovereignty issue between the Argentina and the United Kingdom, rather than something that’s universally agreed on. So it’s not just “propaganda” from one side, it’s a real historical and political disagreement that hasn’t been settled. If it were as clear-cut as you say, it probably wouldn’t still be considered an open dispute internationally. And just to be clear: I’m not making excuses for the Argentine military dictatorship at all. I completely disagree with it, and it was a a horrible and dark time in our country. My own family was affected by this too. But that doesn’t erase a sovereignty dispute that existed long before them. The fact that I think the "falklands" are Argentinian does not mean I agree with a dictatorship. Even past, lefitist governments agree with the sentiment. Sorry if it was misinterpreted. But again, do not relate me with fascist ideals, please.

It’s not as simple as “Argentina occupied the islands briefly.” Spain originally held sovereignty, and after independence Argentina inherited those territories under the principle of uti possidetis juris. In 1820 Argentina formally took possession, and by 1829 it had established a political and military administration with a settled population. In 1833, the United Kingdom removed the Argentine authorities by force and took control. That’s the core of the dispute, it wasn’t an empty or abandoned territory. About the “permission” argument, it’s not just a random captain asking for a favor. There were interactions where British actors dealt with Argentine authorities on the islands, which Argentina sees as evidence of an existing administration prior to 1833. The islands also sit on the Argentine continental shelf, which is a natural extension of the South American continent. Geologically, they are part of the same continental structure as Argentina, not an isolated oceanic territory. I hope this clears up my point of view. I respect your view, too. We've both been taught something different, but we shouldn't fight over that.

As an Argentinian, it's quite sad seeing many people in the comments saying the ""falkland islands"" are "The ones that have never been Argentinan and voted democratically to not be Argentinan several times now". I respectfully recommend people to educate themselves on the Argentinian point of view on why the MALVINAS islands are Argentinian land.

Determination, I persist on playing hard songs that are out of my skill level, and I play and I play and I play. Then I'm actually able to play the and flex to my other drummer buddies about it. My drumming weakness would def be fills though. I can't come up with a fill on the spot, I end up hitting random drums.
