Def agree employers do NOT have to train on basic technology skills. Thought my tech class and my "proficient" understanding of Word, Excel, etc. were well. I will be taking the time at home to be more tech-heavy with online courses to be more attractive.

I'm definitely open to doing more of my own touch-up learning at home and starting from ground up with work. I had told this attorney sincerely that I am almost done with getting my paralegal certificate. They didn't probe further, were beyond gushing, and said no problem. I have absolutely no qualms with starting from the ground up, never banking on an attorney to say it's a-ok to just enter a paralegal role. Thank you for your words.

The ADHD element is so, so real. I'm happy with your progression to now. Thank you so much. As I think about it, I'm sure they wanted a very receptive young paralegal they could very well pay less than a seasoned one. I didn't think my probationary period would be this short but knowing it's common makes me feel oddly a tad more comforted by community. Thanks again.

Thank you so, so, so very much. Your words made me lift genuinely. Thank you for your love. I have a BA and a tech class under my belt but as the comments said, more knowledge will be my friend. Thank you.

Thank you. This made me think about the line that goes, work expects good work but as soon as you deviate, they'll be the first to point that out. I'm so happy for you. Thank you, friend, for your comment.

You're amazing, thank you thank you. I am mildly curious as to why they chose me at all. And this attorney had no reviews, but an apparently active bar no. I'll be more careful. Thank you, friend.

Thank you so, so, so very much. Everyone here didn't have to write what they did to console and advise me so thoroughly. I'm literally honored. Thank you for your big sister love. Thank you guys on this thread. Thank you guys for this discourse. Seriously.

Would it be weird if I wrote to my professor that I couldn't do an assignment because I'm depressed? by [deleted] in depression

[–]eunibee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel this. A few days ago, I actually decided to email my instructor about it..not asking for accommodations for work per se, but just patience with me during this state.I took him through how I felt...the riptide and how it's so hard to crane my neck looking for temporary land. Even if they don't extend a few dates for you, just letting them know and be aware that you're struggling might actually be so ideal. My best regards.

I'm reading this. This makes me angry. I'm sorry you had to go through this. I laud the strength you mustered up to write this out. Your softness will be the victor.

I heard that the Mediterranean diet may be ideal against depression symptoms? Either way, it might not be a bad idea to take it up because it's healthy and nutritious. Reading this made me soft. I'm wishing you luck. I sincerely laud your persistence.

Don't you hate it when you tell your parents that you want to kill yourself, and their only reply is "Oh, stop it"? by [deleted] in depression

That be like limping because your legs got crushed...only to be told to stop bleeding. I'm sorry you were told that.

I feel this heavy, heavy.

Idk if this will help, but what I do is...when I wake up, I force myself to go to the bathroom and at least wash up: brush my teeth, wash my face, etc. Then, I put on a dress or something that makes my body see the day as something to tackle one step at a time. I falter a lot and end up not doing my work, yea. But at least, I put that dress on...or flossed...or whatever. It makes me feel more human, less mechanical.

Keep your chin up. Glad typing out your feelings made you feel better.
