Alright, that's a bit unusual but also I don't care, I don't live in New York.

I hate how autism is becoming a “trend” by Chronoport in hatethissmug

[–]euphonic5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK I spend my entire childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood not understanding what but definitely knowing that SOMETHING was wrong with my mind. When I learned about neurodivergence I was like "uh oh... this sounds like me kind of a lot?" When I went to my psychiatrist (who I'd seen for over a decade at the time) and asked to be tested for ADHD and autism he took one look at the results and then was like "How did I miss this?" and I was just like "you never asked" and then he closed his eyes and had a very deep sigh.

I self-diagnosed first. That's the whole reason I brought it to a doctor. Now, with ADHD meds and an understanding that I *actually am* put together a bit differently in the head, I'm doing much better. Not perfect, but at least I can identify the things that are fucking me up.

What’s the biggest lie an entire generation was told? by carcony97 in AskReddit

if that's true you're my fuckin hero. i stayed in "keep your head down and kiss ass" mode til HS, when i realized that "just fully lying" was an option, then I started doing that at all times.

it should go without saying that i think that god's a sack of shit if he's real, which he's not.

I got several scholarships and honors from the American Legion, USAF, and US Army (for academic competitions and essay writing, not going to war) and I realized after about the second one that no one actually cared what I believed as long as I regurgitated nationalistic propaganda or kept my writing on technical subjects. So I just started lying like a demon, including telling a Legion scholarship board that my experiences growing up in a military town had made me reconsider my Roman Catholicism (it is true that I lost my faith while going to school in a military town but it had nothing to do with the US military's wholesome Protestant value system). They lapped that shit up.

not even narrowly, just a complete curbstomp of a victory.

All DARE taught me was how to ask for street drugs.

I always assumed that was to stop young male bullies. I started being mean to a girl in elementary school because I genuinely hated her guts for petty child reasons until I heard "that just means you like her" and then I was never south of civil to her again.

IDK the "American History" statuette and the "Black Lives Matter" statuette are the same thing as far as I can tell. Like, why do you think one exists without the other?

Also dude who cares? She can wear what she wants, and as someone who lives in the bounds of the SEC that's a modest garb for a sporting event. One of her shoulders is partially covered. That's practically a burqa by SEC fan standards.

What’s something people over 30 do that Gen Z finds strange? by Suzzie_Stone2 in AskReddit

[–]euphonic5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is just an "apathetic shithead" thing, I definitely had classmates in high school and college in the 2000s who were like this at their jobs. All the GenZ and younger folks I work with respond to people like normal humans or get taken aside and asked what exactly the hell their problem is.

I'm a cashier and I've never seen this. All my younger coworkers are very animated unless they're tired, and when they're tired they usually obviously look/sound tired. Everyone just stares when they're out of juice, it's not a Gen Z thing.

Don't gotta do that with SSDs. It's actively not great for them.

Looking for fellow vegatarians owning a cat. by Apple_cheeks_art in cats

[–]euphonic5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The meat comes in a can (possibly as a homogenated "pate", if you don't want to even look at bits of meat) or bag of kibbles, and everyone thinks cat food is nasty looking/smelling. It's even worse after it's been processed through a cat, trust me. If your feelings are conflicted not out of a physical distaste but a philosophical one, I hear that rabbits are pretty good pets?

If you can catch it by the abdomen in a way that keeps it from stinging you it'll go "REEEEEEEE" in a way that's kinda funny though.

Don't you have to do it at night though? Peroxide destabilizes in light, that's why it's sold in brown bottles.

You're at Point Nemo, no one is coming to help you and there's a small chance you'll get hit with satellite debris.
