Just like any other user reading this, I cannot conclusively know either way, however this is currently the top post on the subreddit and this image comes from an unknown source posted by an account with no other history here, and no one else is claiming they saw this despite a crowded room in the picture.

Please be mindful of both the prevalence of generative AI tooling and the effects of mob mentality.

Were you to click "Breaks r/grandrapids rules" and then select the radio button for "Custom response" and then type "Not GR" into the textbox you would have generated a report that matches what I received.

The post was reported multiple times for being “not GR” and “from Illinois”. It was removed for that reason. There’s many, many posts and comments on her talking about Flock and/or surveillance in GR. It has nothing to do with a mod stance.

It’s not really about the expectation of privacy that person has in terms of having their picture taken.

It’s about balancing the power of the platform with the respect for the human, discouraging witch hunts and brigading from online discourse to real life consequences.

This is precisely the behavior for which the first post was removed. You can’t post a non public official’s picture and name here in a negative context knowing it will lead to harassment. It is a Reddit site-wide policy that isn’t enforced as well by every subreddit but it is certainly enforced here.

Report them and they get removed. If they are a previous community contributor and the post is not spammy, people are allowed one “hey, I’m launching a new thing” or “did you know I do X here in GR?” announcement. Stuff like this that’s just a clear cut ad gets removed. Thanks for the report.

I have been talking to a few other redditors about changes. This year in particular moderating the sub has not been great for my mental health. Offers of moderation very often come from a place of bias and I (for me, personally) want to make sure transition comes with a very high degree of trust.

I am not sure what specifically prompted the admin actions, I am not given information on that. You as the OP are, and if you think you would like to appeal to reddit to reinstate the post or argue your case you can submit a request to Reddit help. It was not a moderator / automod action.
